Alpine HCE-C1100 Rear HDR Camera Reviews
Easy to install and mount. I have an Alpine i509 for my JKU so this was plug and play, ran the wire neatly and hidden from the back to the unit, my unit has a designated input for several cameras so I plugged this into the rear camera input not using the Yellow RCA. No splicing into my existing wires, best part I can view this camera as I’m driving without having to put it into reverse. If you have an Alpine unit then it’s plug and play, less than 30 minutes.
Order arrived on time thanks.
Questions

Compatibility & Requirements
For your 2018 JL with a factory screen, you need to navigate two main hurdles: physical connection and software activation.
The Connection Gap: The Alpine HCE-C1100 uses a universal RCA video output. The factory Uconnect screen in your 2018 JL does not have an RCA input on the back. You will need a Jeep JL Camera Input Harness (such as the Z-Edge or a similar LVDS-to-RCA adapter) to bridge the two.
Software Activation: Even with the camera physically connected, the Jeep’s computer (BCM) often won't recognize it automatically. You may need to have a dealer "flash" the radio to enable the backup camera input, or use an aftermarket programmer like the Tazer JL Mini to unlock the feature yourself.
Regional Considerations (Middle East)
Jeep models sold in the Middle East (GCC Spec) typically use the same Uconnect 4 (7-inch) or Uconnect 4C (8.4-inch) systems found in North American models.
Video Format: The HCE-C1100 outputs an NTSC signal. Most modern Uconnect systems are dual-compatible, but it's worth confirming your specific head unit doesn't strictly require PAL (though this is rare for Jeep).
Heat Resistance: The HCE-C1100 is rated for high-temperature environments, making it a solid choice for the Middle East climate compared to cheaper, generic alternatives.
