Questions

Painting the Black Version
The standard Black Powder Coated Tail Lights are finished with a high UV-load black powder coat.
Difficulty: Because powder coat is a very slick, durable plastic-like finish, regular spray paint will not adhere well to it without significant prep.
Prep Required: You would need to thoroughly scuff the surface with high-grit sandpaper (around 400–600 grit) and use a high-quality adhesion promoter or primer designed for metal and powder coat.
Risk: Painting over the powder coat can void the Combat Lifetime Guarantee on the "armor" finish if the underlying coat is compromised.
The "Raw Aluminum" Edition (Recommended for Painting)
If your goal is to color-match your Jeep’s body paint, you should choose the Raw Aluminum Edition Tail Gunner Lights.
Custom Ready: These are supplied with a true raw, unfinished surface specifically intended for custom paint or powder coating prior to installation.
Easier Prep: Since there is no existing coating to strip or scuff, your painter can go straight to the cleaning and priming phase, ensuring a much more professional and long-lasting bond.
