Questions
While the Wrangler has space in the dashboard for a double-DIN receiver, the factory radio opening has a distinct shape with rounded side trim pieces. To install any standard aftermarket double-DIN radio, you will need a few vehicle-specific installation parts:
Dash Kit: A double-DIN dash bezel adapter to fill the gaps on the sides of the radio and blend it seamlessly into the Wrangler's dashboard.
Wiring Harness / Interface Module: A harness (such as a Metra or CRUX module) to adapt the Kenwood's standard wiring to the Jeep's factory harness. This is also required to retain features like accessory power and steering wheel controls if your Jeep has them.
Antenna Adapter: A small adapter to convert Jeep's proprietary factory antenna terminal to the standard Motorola plug used on the back of the Kenwood unit.
The presence or absence of a factory subwoofer does not change the physical mounting requirements in the dash, though it does dictate which wiring interface module you select to ensure the audio signals are routed correctly.
