Description
Keep your Wrangler 4xe powered for your next adventure with the Mopar At-Home Vehicle Charging for the JL PHEV (Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle). With two options available, the Level 2 Chargers are able to charge the battery in a fraction of the time, compared to the 110-volt plug version that is included when you buy the Jeep. A Plug-In type allows you to use a NEMA 14-50 outlet or choose the Hard-Wired version and run power straight from your circuit panel. The plug-in option allows you to take the charging unit with you for extended stays away from home, as well as position the outlet in a conveniently accessible location. The Hard-Wired version is a great when you have an electrical box accessible and want to reduce the clutter.

What is the amp output

First, let's identify specific part numbers being discussed to reduce any confussion:
Mopar 82219081AD Free2move Level 2- Standard Output
Mopar 82219155AC Free2move Level 2- High Output
Mopar 82216505AB - Plug In
The amp output for the Mopar At-Home Vehicle Charging Unit depends on the specific model and your installation method. Mopar currently offers two main Level 2 "Free2move" branded charging stations for the Wrangler 4xe:
Standard Level 2 Charger: This unit provides a 32-amp or 40-amp output (9.6 kW). It is the most common home option and can be either plugged into a NEMA 14-50 outlet or hardwired. (82219081AD or 82216505AB)
High-Output Level 2 Charger: This version provides a 48-amp output (11.5 kW). It requires a hardwired installation on a dedicated 60-amp circuit to achieve this maximum speed. (82219155AC)
Charging Performance for the 4xe
It is important to note that the Jeep Wrangler 4xe's onboard charger is physically limited to a maximum intake of 32 amps (7.7 kW).
If you use a 40A or 48A charger: The Jeep will automatically "handshake" with the unit and pull only its maximum 32 amps.
Charge Time: Even with the higher-amp chargers, a full charge for a depleted 4xe battery will still take approximately 2 to 2.5 hours.
Future Proofing: Many owners choose the 40-amp or 48-amp units to "future-proof" their home for future full-electric vehicles (BEVs) that can utilize the higher amperage.
