Paramount Automotive Gen 2 Tri-Tube Rock Sliders Reviews
Look good for the price
The look
These were a total nightmare.
I had a mechanic friend help me with the install. First of all they arrived with a pretty bad bend but considering the hassle to return something so large (and after waiting such a long time with them on backorder) I decided to just ignore the bend and work around it.
The biggest problem is due to how they use the truck's existing body mount bolts to attach them. First of all getting the bolts to break loose involved very concerning levels of torque. I went very slow and allowed the bolts to cool a few times because I was very worried that I was going to snap one of them. Then there was the issue of getting the bolts rethreaded and tightened, which involved a ton of finessing and applying reverse pressure while turning. We torqued the bolts to spec but they continually loosened and I had to recheck them every couple of months or after a long trip or lots of movement.
The last straw for me was the popping noises during turns, bumps and while braking on a hill. I took my Jeep to the dealer because initially I thought maybe suspension nuts were not to spec and coming loose. The shop checked everything and went through a ton of tests. They then took off the sliders and immediately the popping went away. They put the sliders back on and the popping returned.
I contacted Quadratec who gave me Paramount's phone number. I called Paramount and spoke to someone about my issue and was told to maybe find some longer bolts (so basically they told me sorry about your troubles and good luck).
So while the sliders are heavy duty and do allow for some customization by painting the treads, I would not buy again because it is not worth the risk to breaking a bolt (which would probably involve cutting into the body to access and fix), and definitely not worth the annoying daily popping and clunking as you feel the bolts slowly working themselves free from their body and frame connection. Paramount should provide new fasteners with this, maybe some bolt sealant, and a warning that you could break your bolts. (I only learned afterwards how many other Gladiators have broken their body mount bolts attaching accessories and sliders).
