These wheels are sharp looking. Haven't had a chance to get them mounted yet, but they're going to look great.
Questions
Here is exactly how this setup will fit:
1. Will it stick out past the factory fender flares?
No. One of the main reasons Quadratec designs their custom wheels with a 5.2" backspace (compared to the typical aftermarket 4.5" or 4.75" backspacing) is specifically to keep larger tires tucked under the factory JK fender flares.
A 35x11.50 tire is slightly narrower than the standard 35x12.50.
Mounted on this 17x8.5" wheel, the tire's sidewall tread will sit virtually flush with the outer edge of your factory Sport fender flares, keeping your Jeep street-legal in states with strict tire-coverage laws and drastically reducing mud and rocks kicked up onto your doors.
2. Will it rub on the inside?
On-Road (Daily Driving): You should have zero rubbing on the street. The 5.2" backspacing pulls the wheel out just enough (about 1" further than your stock ~6.25" backspaced wheels) to clear the suspension components during normal driving. Because you are running a slightly narrower 11.5"-wide tire instead of a 12.5", you gain extra breathing room.
At Full Steering Lock (U-Turns): There is a very slight chance the inner sidewall or tread lugs could lightly graze your front sway bar or plastic air dam when the steering wheel is turned all the way to its absolute limit. If this happens, it is incredibly easy to fix by adding a washer or two to your front steering stops to slightly limit full-lock turn angle, or by slightly trimming the plastic air dam.
Off-Road (Suspension Flex): Keep in mind that a 35" tire will require a suspension lift (typically 2.5" minimum) or aftermarket flat fenders to prevent the tire from rubbing the underside of your stock flares when the suspension compresses.
Overall, this is one of the cleanest, most practical "factory-plus" fitments you can run on a JK if you prefer a clean look over a wide, aggressive stance.
Most aftermarket wheels like the Ascend require a spline drive or thin-wall lug nut so that the lug wrench socket can actually fit inside the hole without scratching the finish of the wheel.
