Something to consider when lifting your Jeep is the angle of the rear driveshaft. Improper driveline geometry causes unnecessary wear and vibration. The Rough Country Transfer Case Lowering Kit is designed to optimize the rear driveshaft angle on a YJ Wrangler. This 100% bolt on kit features tube steel transfer case skid plate spacers and extended hardware.
Installation Note: This Transfer Case Lowering Kit is for Use with 4-6in of Lift
Vehicle Specific Design: The Rough Country Transfer Case Lowering Kit is engineered for use with YJ Wranglers with 4 to 6 inches of lift.
Driveline Geometry: By moving the rear transfer case output yoke, the Rough Country Transfer Case Lowering Kit improves rear driveshaft angles.
Bolt-On Application: For ease of install, the Rough Country Transfer Case Lowering Kit mounts to your Jeep without cutting, drilling, or other modification. The tubular spacers fit between the transfer case skid plate and the frame.

Rough Country Transfer Case Lowering Kit Reviews
Looks way better than using washers like people do.
Used in conjunction with 8 degree leaf spring shims, extended leaf spring bolts to hold the shims in place, and Rubicon Express 4.5 inch lift springs. Dropping the transfer case and changing angle of pinion yolk was definitely a must when lifting that high so that you don't bind your drive shaft on a YJ project.
This really straightened out the rear drive shaft. I wish I would have gotten one about 1/2 as thick
Questions

The Rough Country 1622TC Transfer Case Lowering Kit is typically marketed for 4" to 6" lifts because it provides a full drop (usually around 1" to 1.5") designed to correct severe rear driveshaft angles.
When you combine a Rough Country 2.5" suspension lift with Rugged Ridge 1" lift shackles, you are netting roughly 3.5" of total lift in the rear. At this height, the factory short rear driveshaft of a Wrangler YJ is highly prone to driveline vibrations and accelerated universal joint wear. Utilizing this transfer case lowering kit is a very common, cost-effective way to drop the output shaft, flatten out that steep driveline angle, and eliminate those annoying vibrations without having to spring for a full Slip Yoke Eliminator (SYE) kit and custom CV driveshaft right away.
A couple of quick tips for the install at 3.5" of lift:
Check Shifter Clearance: Lowering the transfer case tilts the transmission downward. Because of this, check your center console/shifter bezel area when you are done to ensure the shift lever doesn't bind or get blocked from fully engaging into 2nd, 4th, and Reverse.
Watch your Fan Shroud: Tilting the engine and transmission assembly downward can also shift your engine fan slightly. Make sure the fan blades clear the bottom of your radiator shroud before you fire up the engine.
