Description
This TeraFlex tie rod kit is designed to upgrade any Jeep® Wrangler TJ steering system with the TeraFlex high steer knuckle kit. It is constructed of 1-1/2” hexagon 6061 T6 aluminum, which has a higher specific strength than 1018 steel. It also has a yield strength of 45,000 lbs. but is 3 times lighter than steel. The aluminum will also deflect 3 times further than steel, while returning to its original shape. The hexagon shape makes tightening jam nuts simple by using a 1-1/2” wrench to hold the tube. The offset tie rod ends increase differential cover clearance at full turn.

Will this work on a 2005 lj with a 3" teraflex lift?

The Teraflex High Steer Aluminum Tie Rod Kit (4920251) is technically compatible with your 2005 Jeep Wrangler LJ, but there are some critical "High Steer" requirements you should be aware of for a 3-inch lift.
Lift Height Warning: Teraflex officially recommends this kit for Jeeps with 4" to 6" of lift. At 3 inches of lift, you may encounter clearance issues between the tie rod and other suspension components (like the track bar or sway bar links) during full suspension compression.
The "Required" Knuckle: This kit is designed to work specifically with the Teraflex High Steer Knuckle (#4828490). It is not a "drop-in" replacement for your factory tie rod.
The Steering System: To complete the high steer conversion, you would also typically need the matching High Steer Drag Link Kit (#4920244). Using this tie rod with a stock drag link will result in severe steering geometry issues and "bump steer."
