Questions

Here are the compatibility details:
Bracket Fitment: The Tuff Stuff Alpine Hardshell Tent comes with mounting hardware designed to fit crossbars up to 3.25 inches wide. Standard Thule crossbars (like the WingBar Evo, AeroBlade, or SquareBar) fall well within this range and will physically accept the tent's bottom T-channel mounting slides.
The Weight Warning (Crucial): While the brackets will physically clamp onto the Thule bars, standard Thule 2-bar racks mounted to a 2014 JK Wrangler hardtop are not safely rated to carry this tent. The Thule Gutter Foot Pack/SquareBar setup for the JK Wrangler hardtop has a maximum dynamic weight rating of 165 lbs.
The Alpine 51 weighs 248 lbs, and the larger Alpine 61 weighs 274 lbs.
Exceeding the rack’s dynamic weight limit while driving risks cracking your factory fiberglass hardtop gutters or causing a catastrophic rack failure on the highway.
To safely run an Alpine hardshell tent on a 2014 4-door Wrangler, you should upgrade to a heavy-duty, gutterless roof rack system that transfers weight down to the vehicle's body tub or internal sports bar roll cage.
What Security Mechanisms Prevent Theft?
Out of the box, the Alpine hardshell tent does not include anti-theft locking hardware. Standard nylon lock nuts can be easily backed off with a common open-ended wrench.
To secure your investment, you have a few highly effective options:
Tuff Stuff Security Nuts: Tuff Stuff sells specialized Anti-Theft Security Nuts directly. For their hardshell tents utilizing slider hardware, you will need the 8mm Security Nut Kit. This kit replaces the standard nuts with smooth-sided, tamper-resistant round nuts that require a matching proprietary security key (included in the kit) to tighten or loosen.
Aftermarket Security Mounts: Universal tamper-resistant nut kits or locking brackets that fit the standard M8 bolts used in the tent's bottom mounting tracks.
