AEV has now introduced this new JK Rear Swing-out Tire Carrier Upgrade Kit for Call of Duty® Wrangler Editions. This Kit allows you to use the awesome swing out tire carrier introduced by AEV many years ago. AEV Rear Tire Carrier Upgrade Kit Reviews
Awesome setup!
Nope Nope and triple Nope. $1000 Canadian for a finicky, mediocre rust magnet that rattles and shakes. Instructions, whether online or on the sheet, or AEV's official youtube channel are just outright incorrect. If you follow them, you will need to install and remove the bumper several times. And at the very end, once you think you are done, you will have to then remove absolutely everything to put the correct passenger side plastic bumper cover on. It does not mention the bumper cover (with the hole) until the last page. It's really incredible how bad the instructions actually are. There are extra washers that would not fit anything already on the jeep, or any of the provided hardware, and there are too few washers that you actually need.
I have '17 winter edition with the AEV front and rears from the factory, and saved for this piece for years hoping to complete the look. After a 10 hour install (I am very mechanical), weeks of shimming, adjusting, and messing around, I regret everything about it. I got it all together and then went to slide the passenger side bumper cover on- and Suprise! you need to remove the bumper. Again. Last step of the instructions. Thanks guys. So I gave up and now have no cover on that side and it looks like crap.
The Powdercoat was very thin from the factory- and is already wearing off in a few spots, and it has instantly (and I mean a few days) rusted in the Canadian winter.
If you are considering adding this to your AEV bumper - Please do not do it. There are better, entire bumpers with pre mounted tire carriers for much cheaper.
