Description
If you installed larger tires on your rig than a matching spare tire is a must. The problem comes when you try to bolt that new monster tire/wheel combo on your factory spare tire mount. Rugged Ridge has the answer with the HD Tire Carrier Mount. The HD Tire Carrier Mount is constructed of heavy 1/4" steel plate and mounts to the tailgate. The tire is relocated two inches up and out from the old mount for larger tire clearance.(Maximum tire size= 35")

My 1999 Jeep Wrangler TJ has three bolts on the top of the factory spare tire carrier. This appears to only have two. Will this still work for my rig?
Yes, the Rugged Ridge Heavy Duty Tire Carrier Mount will work for your 1999 Jeep Wrangler TJ.
While the factory TJ mount uses a three-bolt pattern on the top of the carrier to secure the third brake light and tire, the Rugged Ridge HD mount uses a two-bolt configuration for the tire mounting plate itself. This design is intentionally different to accommodate the heavier gauge 1/4-inch steel and to provide multiple bolt patterns for various wheel types.
The "two-bolt" look you are seeing on top is part of their multi-fit plate. It supports both the standard 5x4.5" Jeep TJ pattern and the 5x5.5" pattern found on some aftermarket wheels or older CJ models.

I have a 95 YJ. Will the brake light bracket bolt to this carrier and will it clear a 31 in tire?
Yes, the YJ brake light tower will bolt to this carrier, and the maximum tire size is 35" to fit under the lamp.
