Mountain Off-Road Dual Battery Tray Reviews
Installed and holding 2 Optima yellow tops very well. Took a solid 2 hours to install due to the CAI being slightly wider than the factory intake. The directions could use some work.
This is a good idea but its not for the faint of heart. The description pretty makes it seem like a no brainer and there were not reviews. Well you have to be pretty careful removing a lot of stuff, then get the old battery tray out which also holds the fuse block and air cleaner. Then you have to install the new tray and whack off most of the old tray and save the part that carries the fuse block and air cleaner. Okay but the problem is you also have to pretty much grossly route out the two holes that remain and cut the end off of one so that little of the original support design in is left. The tray itself is of tolerable quality but my directions stopped at Figure 7 when a Figure 15 was mentioned and the text was just cut in half with how to remount the canister from the right to left side of the tray.
The downs. The directions have issues. My batter hold down strap did not have the end bent such that it would clear the firewall of the JK and sit flat on the batteries without altering the end of that. More work. I contacted the manufacturer and was expecting to get a response about the missing directions. Nothing. I guess I am on my own. All they had to do is copy a few pages and email them.
So in short this install is not clean, its a butcher job, your going to go crazy trying to properly secure stuff and route it. But it will work. Time is going to tell if the dual battery stray which could of been supported better will hold up to the rough roads as there is a lot of weight on it and the really flimsy little riser on the right as you face it needs to be considerably stronger in its design. I see that failing due to stress fatigue cracking down the road. I attached three pictures and you can see how the holes don't line up after the old tray is cut as far as you can cut it down.
