Inspired by race bump stops that are used in many different off-road niches, Daystar Stinger Bump Stops use Daystar's revolutionary EVS foam technology. EVS is a microcellular foam material that is available in two different densities. EVS has a true progressive spring rate and is designed to be cycled thousands of times without degrading. Each Stinger Bump Stop can carry between one and three EVS foam inserts, allowing the user to easily adjust the firmness of the Bump Stops.
Combine the different densities of the EVS material available with the adjustability of the Stinger piston shaft, and you have a bump stop that can be adapted to all needs and uses. The outer shell of the Stinger is machined from heavy gauge tubing, while the bronze guide for the piston shaft ensures long life. Thanks to the overall design, Stinger Bump Stops are fully rebuildable. Best of all, Stinger Bump Stops are a fraction of the cost of nitrogen-charged bump stops while offering the same performance attributes.
Daystar Stinger Bump Stops are sold in pairs or indivdually, in two different lengths, making them adaptable to just about any vehicle. They also work with most racing-style bump can mounts, while weld-on mounts are available separately.

Questions

Front or Rear Fitment?
While the Daystar Stinger series is technically a universal product, it is most commonly installed in the front of a Jeep Wrangler TJ due to the available space within the front coil springs.
Front: They are a popular choice for the front to prevent the axle from "slamming" into the frame during high-speed desert running or hard landings.
Rear: They can be used in the rear, but typically require a "bump can" mount to be fabricated or welded to the frame, as the rear coil area on a TJ is more restricted.
Is it Bolt-On for a 2006 TJ?
No, the KU71090BK is not a direct bolt-on replacement for your factory rubber bump stops.
Universal Mounting: These are designed to fit into 2-inch "bump can" holders.
Fabrication Required: To install these on a TJ, you must either weld a bump can to your frame or use a specialized mounting bracket. If you are looking for a simple "pop-out, pop-in" replacement, this is likely more than you need.
Tuning: The "Stinger" name refers to the internal EVS Foam inserts (included in black and blue densities). You can mix and match these inserts to tune how soft or firm the bump stop feels when it engages.
A Bolt-In Alternative for Your TJ
If you want a simple installation that doesn't require welding or custom mounts, consider the Daystar KU09037BK Extended Polyurethane Bump Stops.
Choose the Stinger KU71090BK if you are building a dedicated off-road rig and are comfortable with welding or custom fabrication to get "hydraulic-style" performance at a lower cost. Choose the KU09037BK if you want a 15-minute bolt-on project to protect your 2006 TJ's suspension.
