Description
This adapter plate kit allows you to upgrade from the AX5 to a AX15 transmission. The adapter kit includes a adapter plate, throw-out bearing snout, throw-out bearing assembly, crossmember spacers, AX5 dowel pin, pilot bushing (fits late AX15 1997 & newer), AX15 seal, clutch disc, fastening hardware and adapter instructions.

Note: This retro-fit does require some parts from your old AX5 transmission. You'll need to retain the AX5 bell housing and shifter housing.
Note: This adapter plate assembly is for exclusive use with the 1994 & newer AX5 bell housing with the external slave cylinder only!!!
Transfer Case
The NP231 transfer case always used a 21 spline input gear with the AX5 transmission. When installing the AX15, the transfer case must have a new 23 spline input installed. We offer two 23 spline input gears for the Jeep NP231: P/N 716054 1988 to 1994 NP231 P/N 716095 1995 & UP NP231 (when using this gear with the AX15, the input gear must be shortened).

Will I need the drivelines lengthened or shortened?
Drivelines need to be measured and modified. It will require a pinion to pinion measurement depending on what other suspension and drivetrain parameters your project has. Thanks for your inquiry.

I have a 1990 jeep wrangler yj which adapter I need for ax5 to ax15
This adapter works for all Jeeps originally with a factory AX-5 transmission. That was 1984-2006.
