The TeraFlex 231J shift linkage kit is designed to replace the stock linkage on a Wrangler that has a body lift, a transfer case lowering kit or a belly up kit or any combination that changes the relationship between the body tub shift bracket and the transfer case shift bracket. These modifications sometimes result in binding of the factory shift linkage.

Teraflex Transfer Case Shifter Linkage Adapter Reviews
Not bad to install. It was a little time consuming getting the adjustment set for the link. Seems to shift fine.
Toughest part was getting the skid plate back up by myself doing this without a lift. My 02 Wrangler has been stretched out a few times since I like to drive it over big rocks.
Questions

This bracket bolts directly to the transmission and transfer case to eliminate binding caused by drivetrain movement. However, because you are running a 4-inch lift (which often drops the transfer case or rotates the assembly), you may need extra adjustment range. TeraFlex offers an extra-long 5.5" threaded adjustable turnbuckle shift linkage rod (part # 947105) that is frequently recommended alongside this kit for taller lifts to ensure you can fully engage all low-range gears.

According to Teraflex specifications, this adapter kit requires extensive custom modifications to fit an AX15 manual transmission setup. However, regarding the internal Terra Low gear kit inside your NV231 transfer case, the physical shift linkage adapter mounts externally to the transmission case and transfer case housing, so it does not interfere with internal gear modifications.
If you are running the manual AX15, you will need to plan for substantial fabrication or custom bracket adjustments to make this linkage kit work.

Modifications Required for the AX-15 Transmission: Housing Interference & Trimming: The AX-15 manual transmission case has a different casting shape and bulkier housing profile compared to automatic transmissions. The Teraflex mounting bracket will not clear the manual transmission case out of the box and requires extensive grinding, cutting, or notching of the bracket itself to sit flush against the transfer case studs without hitting the transmission housing.
Accounting for the Transfer Case Drop: Because you are running a transfer case drop kit along with your suspension lift, your drivetrain angles are altered. While the drop helps correct driveshaft angles, it changes the vertical and horizontal distance between the body-mounted shifter handle and the transmission-mounted bracket.
Linkage Rod Adjustments: Once the bracket is physically modified and bolted onto the AX-15/NP231 assembly, the standard linkage rods may require custom length adjustments. Many users running manual swaps or custom drops find that standard rods bind or fall short, making an extra-long adjustable turnbuckle rod (such as Teraflex part #947105) necessary to dial in proper engagement across all shift sectors.
Before bolting everything up permanently, test-fit the modified bracket with the skid plate and transfer case at their final operating heights to ensure the linkage doesn't bind when shifting through 2WD, 4HI, Neutral, and 4LO.
