Russell 694850 Stainless Steel Brake Hose Kit for 84-01 Jeep Cherokee XJ with 0-1" Lift

I've installed 3 sets of these now and figure I'm ready for a review. Plus-es are that it is tough. I installed a set of these on my daughters jeep 5 years ago and recently she slammed on the brakes and blew out the caliper seal on a set of calipers I installed at the same time; she failed the calipers before she failed the lines! Minus-es are: other competitor designs have the mount at the caliper at an angle (similar to OEM), on this it is what the image shows. This puts stress on the plastic over the braided stainless steel and the plastic protective coating will crack around the circumference at this location (right at the edge of the stainless steel compression fitting). Another minus is that on my wife's jeep, after I installed them, one side rubbed against the tire in the fully turned position; to solve this, I had to loosen the brake line on the frame, turn the brake hose to the right orientation, and tighten the brake line, so in effect putting the brake line in a mild torsion to hold the brake hose at the right orientation; so after they are installed, check for full turning motion in your axle. Last minus is that I installed the rear brake hose on my sons jeep recently, and after driving it, rear diff oil was coming out of the breather hose on the axle. After further investigation, the original factory hose mount has a curve in it, and it is thicker, so when the Russel is installed, it puts the banjo bolt deeper into the axle hub, by about a 1/4-3/8" (the third line in the image doesn't show the side that mounts to the axle). Solution was to add some flat washer spacers so the bolt did not recess into the axle tube as far.
