Shaped just like OEM, easy installation with the new fuel pump. Contrary to what the listing says, it fits CJ-7s with 258s too.

Which one will fit a jeep wrangler 89 6 cyl 4.2l ( from fuel filter to fuel pump)

The OMIX 17732.22 fuel line kit is specifically designed for the Jeep CJ series and is NOT a direct fit for your 1989 Jeep Wrangler YJ.
The OMIX Fuel Line (17732.24) IS the correct factory-style replacement for the 1987–1990 Wrangler YJ with the 4.2L engine.

What is the shorter li e used for?

In the OMIX 17732.22 Fuel Line Kit, the shorter of the two rigid steel lines is designed to connect the fuel filter to the carburetor input.
How the Lines Are Used:
Longer Line: Runs from the fuel pump up to the input of the fuel filter.
Shorter Line: Runs from the center outlet of the fuel filter directly into the carburetor fuel bowl inlet.
By splitting the connection at the filter, Jeep engineered a way to prevent vapor lock. The filter acts as a junction point: the short line provides the carb with fuel, while a separate third port on the filter (usually the top one) connects to a rubber return line that sends excess fuel and vapors back to the gas tank.
