*** Gear Reduction to 1, otherwise known as the "Gear Ratio". A higher numerically gear ratio will provide slower and more powerful pulling while also providing the least amount of amp draw on your battery because the winch motor doesn't need to try as hard. A lower numerically gear ratio will pull faster but also put more amp draw on your battery.

Quadratec Q9000 Self Recovery Winch in Black Reviews
2 1/2 years old. Still runs great. Although I got it for self recovery, my father-in-law got his F250 Super Duty stuck in some serious mud. I winched him out. I was very impressed.
Works great for the money. I purchased one about 6 years ago. Now my wife's 05 tj, jl needs one. I'm sold with the 3/8" wire rope and 100'. That little extra length on the cable let's me use a snatch block. Easier on me and the winch. Just didn't have to worry about heating up the winch with about doubling the it's pulling power.
A good winch for the money. I have used it to pull others out of the mud dozens of times. After three years of use, I am starting to have some issues with the clutch sticking, and with plug for the remote. Still works, just have to mess with it sometimes. Overall, I have gotten more than my money's worth.
