ATK New 4.0L I-6 Crated Engine Reviews
My mechanic (Jeep specialist) was impressed with the quality of the engine, especially for the price. The engine also shipped way faster than expected. So far I've got about 1,000 miles on it, starts up instantly and runs smooth. Very happy with everything considering other shops/engine builders were quoting me 12+ weeks for a replacement engine.

That iconic YJL build was a massive, custom-engineered undertaking. Fitting a legendary 4.0L inline-six into a modern Wrangler JL requires completely fabricating custom engine mounts, modifying the firewall or transmission tunnel, and handling major integration hurdles with the JL's modern CAN-bus electrical architecture, digital dashboard, and transmission controls.
The JL engine bay was engineered around modern V6, turbo-four, and diesel powerplants, meaning an old-school distributor-driven or coil-rail inline-six is a tight and complex squeeze. If you want that classic straight-six soul in a JL chassis, you are looking at a full custom restomod project rather than a straightforward swap.
