Jeep Soft Tops, Bikini Tops & Accessories
When choosing the right top for you, ask three questions: Do you currently have a soft top? Do you want to change your Jeep's look? Do you currently have a hard top and want to switch to a soft top? These are the best questions to ask because choosing the right soft top for your vehicle isn't quite as easy as it used to be. Manufacturers now use a wide range of materials, fitment methods, and even colors. Some use a new framework, while others require you to reuse the existing OEM hardware. Many even eliminate hardware altogether.
If you currently have a soft top, you may want to replace only the fabric and reuse your soft top frame, as long as it is in good shape. Today's soft tops use a variety of fabric materials to attach to your hardware, such as 30oz triple-layer twill or 28oz Sailcloth, which provide superior durability, a nearly whisper-quiet ride, and are perfect for those who generally use the vehicle every day. Other material types include lighter-weight multi-layer 23 or 24oz fabric, which is generally more economical and works well for those who do not use the vehicle as a daily driver.
If you are out to change the look of your vehicle, frameless soft tops and 'summer style' tops are a great option. Frameless tops eliminate all hardware and instead use door surround channels and a rail system to attach the top to your vehicle, while creating a sleek fastback look that definitely stands out. Summer-style tops use a bikini top, a windbreaker, and a tonneau cover to seal the cabin, especially during warmer summer months.
If you have a hardtop and want to switch to a soft top, you can still choose from fabrics like Sailcloth, Twill, or multi-layer, but make sure the top kit includes all the hardware needed to attach to your Jeep. You can also look to the frameless top option as well because both work great, while 'summer top' solutions are also popular with hardtop owners who want to remove the top for just a few months out of the year.
