Reviews for Borla ATAK® 2.5" Dual Axle Back Exhaust for 18-20 Jeep Wrangler JL 3.6L
Overall quite pleased with the exhaust, but I reserve 5/5 reviews for near perfection and most things are not quite that.
The fitment out of the box wasn't 100% perfect. My passenger side exhaust tip hangs ever so slightly lower than the driver's side. Many people won't notice this or care, but I like to make mention of it. Could fairly easily be bended into a perfect shape. For a made in the USA part from a reputable manufacturer, I'd like 100% perfect.
Sound overall is a mixed bag. On the "Jeep scale" it's a 5/5 exhaust sound at full throttle. But there's limits to how good you can make a Pentastar sound with just an axle-back exhaust. Overall scale I'd put more at a 3.5/5. Obviously a massively subjective rating, but it feels bad that my old Fiat 500 Abarth with an engine and price tag nearly 1/3 the size of my Jeep sounds quite a bit better. If all you want is noise, it definitely delivers. If you want more "definition" with subtle exhaust sounds and burbles they don't come through much. Downshifts and throttle blips with the manual transmission sound pretty limp overall.
The exhaust gets a 5/5 for "daily livability." At low RPM and throttle input (specifically around 1500 RPM) the exhaust is nearly silent. You can cruise through neighborhoods at 2AM and not harass the public. Then when you want it you can nail it and it sounds monstrous. I haven't done much high-speed highway driving with it yet, but judging from how silent it is at low RPM/throttle and how much road/wind noise you get from a Jeep on the highway I doubt it's an issue.
Exhaust was easy to install with simple tools. No drilling required, no welding, everything fit perfectly. My only concern was the sound, i did think it was going to be a little on the louder side. but, now after a week, i’m used to the sound and glad its not obnoxiously loud. On the plus side, i did notice a slight increase in smiles per gallon and throttle response.
Very nice, deep and consistent sound...but definitely not obnoxiously loud or anything like that. I drive a manual transmission, so this sounds really good through all the gears and in the downshifting as well. Also, the power and airflow through the engine have improved quite a bit. Worth every penny.
Excellent tone, great Throttle response. easy install, 30 min. quality product.
