Reviews for Bestop Core Doors for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK Unlimited 4-Door
I installed them and I had never took my OG doors off. Haven't had any issues with fitting or leaking until I took the lower door panel off. Carpet gets soaked every time it rains now, but didn't leak prior to taking them off. I plan on replacing the seal with a thicker weather stripping and that should resolve the issue. Only thing I see wrong is I wish they had added a locking mechanism to the hinges to keep someone from just popping them off and tossing them in the trunk. Also some sort of key copier that you could stick your OG key into the lock and it would set all 4 doors to it. Overall the doors are bad ass and I love them. I have the Fab Fours Fender flare system and the doors look great with them. I would recommend this product for sure but with any after market part expect to have some issues figuring it out on the install. Just don't go buying stuff thinking it's going to fit right out of the box. Adjustments need to be made and some sort of basic tool experience and know how is recommended. If you don't have that have someone help you or you will get frustrated. Like I said, taking my OG doors off was the hardest thing about the install.
Core doors fit perfectly and seal great! Look the doors and the look.
The only issue I have is the front uppers don’t come off real easy.
Was also a great experience working with Quadratec.
The only company I purchase from.
Thanks
The lowers went on very easy. I was a bit surprised that the hinges weren't threaded; you're dependent on the locks to prevent theft. A power lock kit would be nice so you don't have to run around and unlock all your doors. Dare I bring up the difficulty in picking up hitchhikers with aftermarket half doors? The doors close in a real satisfying way and have no movement once latched. The inside latch pulls strangely, like an AR with a first gen NY compliance stock; it just doesn't feel natural. I haven't popped the cores yet, but it seems pretty straightforward. A storage solution would be nice.
The rear uppers dropped in nicely; the fronts, not so much. The center peg was a little out of alignment with no way to "persuade" it. Ultimately, I filed a taper into the center pegs and now they drop in with a little finagling. With the uppers on, it definitely requires more force to close the doors.
Without mirrors, the doors have holes, that are screaming for plugs. As I'm just waiting on the hardware to mount my mirrors it won't bother me long. It just seems weird since the kit doesn't come with the doors by default.
Overall, I like the doors. Like all half door solutions, I think these are overpriced, but they have good fit and finish. I wasn't sure how they'd look on the Jeep, but the textured black with the core design looks good!
For the cost of these I was pretty upset at the fit and finish. Adjusting latches and hinges to get them to finally shut nice. I had to grind parts of the doors off. They were to close to the paint couldn’t fit paper between door and paint. The passenger front door the upper wouldn’t go in had to grind the center hole for the uppers out. They leak still they're better than nothing. Only way I see to really get them right is to adjust the hinge on the Jeep and I don’t want to do that because my full doors will be off. But they look good. The uppers I think the quality is great.
I'm with a few of these reviews above. My doors must have been from early stock. The bottom of the drivers door sticks out and the top actually cam into contact with the door jam and scratched it. Both driver and passenger doors' center pin hole was off by 1/8" so as to not accept the upper and none of the doors close well. All of the seals are off and even the holes for the mirrors don't align. It's almost impossible to close the rear doors from the inside with the uppers on and nothing seals well. All this after hours of adjusting hinges, latches, etc. I've got a ticket in with bestop also.
So far not so good. The drivers door doesn't fit properly. It sticks out at the bottom and side on the latch end, and is almost impossible to close with the top piece on. The drives side rear door fits well, but it's difficult to close too. A kid in the back wouldn't be able to close the door themselves. I'll finish the passenger side tomorrow and update.
I have a ticket in with Bestop, so I'll add the conclusion to that here as well.
I was very excited about these, but I feel I've wasted $3,000. The doors do NOT fit at all, even after many adjustments. I had to add washers to the door pegs just to make my driver door close semi-easily. No matter what you do, the doors stick out at the top and bottom, and there is about a .5 inch gap where rain comes right through.
