Reviews for Paramount Automotive 51-0395 Rear Bumper with Tire Carrier for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
Fairly easy install, lacking torque specs
Matches my Paramount front bumper and all in one. Do not need to purchase other items to install.
Great product and the price for a jeep bumper and tire mount is unexpectedly fundamental.
Looks well built.
Great
It's simple
Very solid bumper and the tire rack is very solid., the design is great , installation was not too bad, the instructions need a little work., but if you have a little common sense you can do it. About half way through the install I figured it was faster to install without trying to decode the instructions.
Overall: Great bumper, fairly well constructed, and with lots of extras other brands sell separately. Even so, this bumper COULD be a 5 star rating, but there were some things that kept it from being so:
- Instructions are not the best. They don't explain how/where to install the tire rack bumper, aren't specific enough about WHICH M12 bolt to use where, and some of the install step explanations are confusing. Luckily, they do provide pics that help somewhat
- The hardware they provide seems top notch - Stainless for most of it. However, I had one bolt with bad threads and another nut/bolt combo that cross threaded way too easy
- The tire rack gets linked to your tailgate (a plus in my book), but after the weight of my tire was added to the tire rack, it sunk about 1/2". Considering I have stock rims and 33s, it seems a bit much. I wouldn't care except there is a clear interference between the link and the tire rack that will eventually cause an issue (corrosion, stress failure) - see pic to understand better
- Made in China
Now, Like I said, they do include quite a bit with this bumper and tire carrier, that most charge extra for:
- two U shackles with isolators
- adjustable 3rd brake light mount that raises your brake light above tire (you re-use your stock light) AND the necessary extended wiring harness
- 3 chromed wheel lug nuts for attaching tire to tire carrier
- Ball bearing for tire rack pivot
- Class 3 hitch
Overall, good lo
bolts supplied were not great. 4-5 got stuck as the threads stopped threading before tightening. Had to cut them off and get new bolts from the hardware. Other than that i like it.
Instructions were borderline terrible. I had the bumper installed for about 3 weeks when the tensioner that connects the tire carrier/tire to the Jeep snapped!. The tire and gate flew open when I pulled out at a stop light. I am lucky that my fender didn't get crushed and even more that the whole assembly with the tire didn't fall off in to traffic! I am still waiting for customer service to respond...
