Reviews for Quadratec Tow Hitch Wiring Harness for 18-24 Jeep Wrangler JL
As far as the harness goes this one is top notch. Instructions are right up there once you figure out what you are looking at. Problem is I did not receive the miscellaneous parts that were supposed to come with the harness. It did not prevent me from installing the harness. They would have made it quicker and easier to install.
Good connectors but the wire gauge is lighter by a gauge than I like to see. I am not too happy with the design or instructions. Routing a live wire down the driver’s side frame rail adjacent to the exhaust and catalytic converter and not suppling a heat insulation layer for the live wire from the rear axle to the firewall is asking for trouble. Using chintzy nylon tie locks did not help. Quadratec could improve this kit by coming off the passenger side and routing down the passenger frame rail and staying away from the exhaust. Leaving a large part of their harness without insulation to heat and routing about 8” from the catalytic converter is a design miss in my opinion. The Mopar trailer hitch wiring harness is priced over twice as much but if I was doing this again I would use their kit with their OEM heat insulation on the exhaust-side routed wire.
The worst instructions of any install ive done. They are all over the place and do not explain the cable routing properly. A five year old could've done a better job writing this. Both taillights steps show the module installs on that side. Thankfully i watched a video that somewhat explained where the module installs. The Christmas tree ties are not properly space, which means you either have to buy new ones or wrestle them to the proper place. They provide 0 spares so be prepare to buy your own zipties and christmas tree ties. Extremely frustrating.
The sent me the wrong part. I paid $80 for the wiring harness and the sent me the $8 hitch plug. And this was after I paid extra money to order the hitch and the harness separately, because the plug was supposedly "out of stock".
