Reviews for Insane Audio JL3001 Head Unit for 18-22 Jeep Wrangler JL and Gladiator JT
I would strongly recommend not buying JL3001. Bought and installed it in my wife’s JL last month. It will do everything advertised, sometimes and usually only after you fiddle with it. FM reception cuts out for no reason occasionally. I believe it’s some kind of software issue as it will happen even if vehicle is stationary on a station that is coming in clear. Automatic Bluetooth pairing works about 75% as long as it’s always the same device. Will not automatically pair if not the last device used. Initial CarPlay setup was a pain in the ass, had to go through every “if that doesn’t work try this” step from tech support forum. Now works with cord, wirelessly is hit or miss. They don’t tell you in the ads that to use CarPlay there is a usb cord that connects to back of unit that you have to plug into. You cannot use your built in USB ports.
Volume control sucks unless you use the steering wheel controls.
Back up camera display sucks even after making recommended setting changes from tech-support.
I have the mid grade OEM radio in my JT and it is head and shoulders above the insane unit.
I am currently trying to get insane to take unit back, and will probably try to put a mid grade OEM Mopar unit in wife’s JL.
