Reviews for Oracle Lighting 5874-504 Rear Bumper LED Reverse Lights for 18-22 Jeep Wrangler JL
Guess I got these before the update. Want to like them but the amount of filing to try and get a halfway decent fitment in the driver's side of the steel bumper isn't worth it. Still don't like the fitment and don't think these will hold up. Don't want to spend another $100 for the new version.
Lights are bright, I found it easier to remove the rear bumper and insert to install them, did it in the snow in my driveway.
The problems I had are that with halogen bulbs the lights would work, flash and then kill the reverse lights completely. I replaced the stock halogen bulbs with LED and now they work as they should. This brings me to my next issue.
I have this white band of light that starts all the way out on the backup camera and moves inwards to the jeep when they are on, it keeps cycling and I keep seeing white bands across the screen coming towards the jeep while backing up.
I contacted oracle, sent pictures and a video and they stated there was nothing they could do for me.
I had previously installed bumper mounted recessed led lights in my wifes jku and these seemed way easier as they were made for the jeep, but it is very distracting to use the rearview camera backing up now. I'm disappointed in that they did not mention the issue with halogen bulbs and do not have an answer or solution for the white bands of lights.
I have a 2019 Rubicon. I installed and wired the Oracle reverse lights as the directions stated. The factory reverse lights and the Oracle reverse lights come on then go off two or three times then neither work after that. If I turn the vehicle off then start over I get the same response. With the Oracle reverse lights disconnected the factory reverse lights work normal. It is as if a relay switch is being overloaded and kicking out. Planning on calling Oracle for advise.
The lights worked great for a few weeks and put out a great bit of light. However, now they work only intermittently. Sometimes the lights will turn off while backing up for no apparent reason. The only way to get them back on is to stop the car, shut the engine off and restart. I am not sure if there is water in them or if it is related to cold weather (problems surfaced when it dropped to 32 degrees). Disappointing that these are not consistently working.
1) the instructions do not tell you that the pictures in the instructions are with the bumper removed.
2) nowhere do they give you instructions on how/where to run the wires. They push this as a simple mod (think beginners) but you are on your own here.
3) the t connectors are flimsy. If you can avoid them I would encourage you to do so
My drivers side briefly illuminates then both the LED and the Jeep back up light turn off.
The pain to gain ratio is not there with this one and I have done a ton of mods on my Jeep and I’m not adverse to a challenge. This was an exercise in frustration.
Does not seem to fit the JL steel bumper. Passenger side fit correctly, drive side did not. Also, if attempting to install on steel bumper you will need to remove bumper to access. Contacted Oracle customer service to inquire about a replacement or ability to purchase just the driver side, no help from their customer support. Buyer beware!
