Reviews for Bushwacker HyperForm Fender Flares for 18-23 Jeep Wrangler JL
I’m prepping for new wheels and bigger tires. I need to make room and was looking for fender upgrades that gave me space, added some function and looked like factory minimalist styling. These hit all my points. Install was almost straight forward. Rear popped right on. However I already gad Oracle side lights that I had to work around. Dremel took to the rescue with small changes to the front fenders all is good. Customer service was very helpful with my wiring questions. They appear to me to be as well made as the factory fenders. I’m looking forward to how all will come together with the new wheels etc. I love the styling and how the lights function.
The way they fit and look.
Love these fenders!!! Completely gives my a Jeep a whole different look and I am obsessed! They provide an OEM look but gives a lot more clearance for off-roading. Most fenders don’t offer marker/turn signal lights once you get into the thinner fenders, but you get the best of both worlds with these. I did not personally install these, but the company I had install these had no issues. You will need new inner fender liners on the front with these fenders. You do not have to replace the back inner fender liners if you don’t want to. I kept the OEM liners on the back
THE look an Quality
Even though there is plastic parts, the quality and reputation of Bushwacker is hands down better than other companies like RR, plus the DRLs are fluid (seen them on other Jeeps in my area as well as Rugged Ridge… the seamless flow of the tradition of LED to LED and added quality to the extent of not even knowing there's individual LEDs, it's amazing. With RR, you can see Each LED a through the frosted plastic. Even the support bracket is a harder and more stiffer quality… of the Jeeps I've ridden in with chopped brackets, you can hear them flapping or vibrating against the fender no matter how tight you make the bolts. My ONLY hesitation about replacing any fender is how each it is to break the plastic clips / "Christmas tree" retainers… I wish these companies would address this by including rivnuts or steel bolts but there are various companies that offer these.
These Hyperform fenders are awesome, was the install super easy, well no but a few hours and little swearing there are on and I’m glad I did it! Quadratec shipping was super fast and price couldn’t be beat! The only disclaimer I’ll give you is you should plan on having front inner fender liners on hand, there is no god way to trim the OEM ones to fit and look right.
They’re essentially much thinner versions of the OE fenders, with the exception of the two bolts needed for the light bracket, you will not need to use the factory bolt mounts.
They come with replacement clips for install, however if you plan to reuse the OE liners make sure you have new push pins on hand as the ones from the factory will more than likely break. I did not reuse the liners as I will be upgrading to metal ones in the near future. Fairly straightforward install with a couple snags/issues…
1-the directions as a whole…kinda suck but manageable.
2-the wiring diagram is kinda useless, the box comes with these resistors I think but I didn’t use them. The lights are literally plug and play.
3-the lights and brackets took a long time (for me) to align and make sure the lights were sitting correctly in their slots. The lights take 3 screws of different lengths and give significant resistance when screwing in resulting in the lights themselves being loose inside the brackets unless you really put some effort into it.
Overall I am happy with them despite the above mentioned issues and would recommend them to anyone looking to change the look of their jeep without spending $1000+ on fenders.
Love the look and offer excellent clearance. Have one issue with one turn signal/flare light not lighting back up after using turn signal.
Just finished install of these and pretty happy with look. A little more of a gap around the light than I would prefer, but it is not bad.
Instructions for install not great and I could not find a video, but overall happy with look.
The quality of the product is OK, the installation instructions were OK but could have been better (similar to other users comments), the fitment of the rear ones are good but the fitment of the front could be way better for what they cost (for the record I bought them when they were $494.99, and I don't feel they are worth that, and I see they are a lower price now). There is a substantial gap around the front fender fake vents (I am sharing my pics), and because the the bracket, light and fender are 3 pieces it's almost impossible to get the gaps to be even and perfect - lights do not sit back in the slot of the fender as expected and the way the photos made it look like it should. Also should be careful when applying the adhesion promoter, I had it run down the face of the fender and it ruined the finish (I feel this should have been noted in the instructions or they should have included something that would not have damaged the finish of the fenders for installation). Overall I am dissatisfied for what they cost and how they fit, which I don't feel the stock photos represented correctly.
