Reviews for Quadratec Axle Back Exhaust for 18-25 Jeep Wrangler JL with 3.6L or 2.0L Engine
I’ve had this for about a year and a half now. The pros are that installation was easy, it sounds much better than stock, and it initially looked great. The only con is 18 months of having it the black finish is chipping off. I live in Florida so it’s not like this is exposed to a bunch of road salts etc and we have only done some light off-roading. To be fair I haven’t had a chance to contact Quadratec about it, but I’m going to guess buying it 18 months ago I’m probably out of any kind of warranty on the product. If the finish wasn’t chipping off this would be 5/5 stars. It gets 3 because I genuinely have enjoyed it otherwise.
Was disappointed on the fit of this muffler on my 2024 Sahara. The tail pipe covers 1 fit right over the pipe the other I basically had to hit it with a rubber mallet to get it on. The pipe that fit over the factory exhausted was also too small and I needed to bend it open a bit and in the end still couldn't get it fully where i wanted it. The clamps were also sized about 1/4 too small to fit over their own pipes. Overall there is some quality construction issues with this made in China exhaust. In the end was able to get it acceptable but would hesitate with making another Quadratec product purchase. They need to do better.
Sound and look of the finished product is what I was looking for should not have been this hard of an install on a 24!
Muffler sounds good once installed. My only issue with it was that I had to have the hangers cut and extended so the tail pipes wouldn't rest on my bumper. After cutting the original muffler clamp off, I couldn't easily put it back on and had to take it somewhere for help. I expect better for a part that is specifically designed for my car. With that being said, I would recommend a professional installation and expect to spend some money to modify the muffler.
The product itself is as expected, looks and sounds good. As others have mentioned it sounds good but not too loud. I installed this on a Jeep 4xe, for highway driving.
The installation at first seemed according to plan. I was able to torque it to specification, the directions were clear and straight forward. At idle it appeared to be fine and driving around at low speed. However, as soon as I jumped on it, it was obviously leaking, the clamp didn't hold up.
I took it to a muffler shop to have it welded on and lowered so the rear plastic bumper won't melt. Problem solved. It's possible a different clamp might have worked but I prefer having it welded on. I would recommend given this information up front.
Only Mod I have removed after 200 miles…
PROS: Seems to give you a little more pep in the pedal and my gas mileage went from 18.3 mpg to 18.8mpg. Lastly, was ease of install-took me 20 minutes.
CONS: The sound on take off is great, but at highway speeds, every time the automatic trans shifts from 8 to 7 and if passing 6, the sound in the cabin is suddenly very loud. So loud, conversation has to stop and you sit and wait for the trans to shift down. Because 85% of my driving is highway I removed.
Moral of the review is if you want a nice Rumbly Wrangler, this is perfect for you and you’re gonna love it. If you drive on the highway a lot, consider the volume before purchase.
I am very disappointed with this product.
The exhaust does not have a notch to fit into the stock mid-section of the factory exhaust. Also, the included clamp is not strong enough to squeeze the exhaust around the factory mid-section to seal against leaks. I had to purchase a more robust clamp to install it correctly.
The exhaust does not hang correctly from the factory hangers. This caused the exhaust to be held against the rear bumper. I had to purchase different adjustable rubber hangers to separate the exhaust from the rear bumper. No adjustment of the exhaust would get it to hang evenly; the integrated hangers are not even, so the exhaust does not ride level.
After 500 miles of use, the black coating under the exhaust is all but gone. On top of that, the "Quadratec" name on one exhaust tip differs. Meaning one side is legible and one is not. This is not due to use; one is etched differently.
Overall, the exhaust is crooked, the coating is wearing off, and the installation requires additional parts. I would not recommend purchasing this exhaust.
