I have a 91 Jeep Wrangler YJ with a hard top. Does this amount to the hard top or do I need some kind of rank first either way how would this tent mount to my hardtop?
The Overland Vehicle Systems Roof Top Tent cannot be mounted directly to a fiberglass hard top. You need a heavy-duty roof rack system to support the dynamic weight of the tent and the static weight of occupants.

Will this work with a 2020 rubicon automatic top?
It will not mount directly to soft tops, hard tops, or One Touch SkyTops without proper weight-bearing support rails.

Will this work with my 2020 rubicon?

Does this mount with the ladder to side or rear? I am looking to mount on a Gladiator with a mid-height bed rack.
The LD TMON Clamshell Tent can be mounted to open to either the rear or the sides.
Because it uses a perimeter aluminum track system with repositionable ladder mounts, you can choose your entry point. When mounting on a Gladiator bed rack, most configurations orient the hinge toward the cab and set it up to open off the rear or the driver/passenger side, depending on how you want to access the bed and ladder.

The only practical recommendation is to double-check that your Rhino-Rack HD bar spacing matches the channel slots on the bottom of the tent frame, but the included hardware kit will handle the physical attachment to the bars.

I have a JLU with a hard top - Do I just need rails to mount this, or is there a special rack that's necessary?
Yes, you will need a mounting system that supports both the weight of the tent, people inside, and additional luggage that may be brought up with you. Most standard cross-bar systems support weights for skis, kayaks, and/or small amounts of luggage, so you will need to verify the total weight capacity of the rack. The weight of this tent is ~150lbs + the weight of people + possible luggage weight estimate = the static weight capacity needed from the rack. You'll be looking for static weight ratings of 500+ AND dynamic weight ratings of 200+.

Yes, this tent would work with the JLU. We have a coupl ofe roof rack options for soft tops to research: Sherpa Roof Rack System or LOD Destroyer Bas Roof Rack

will this roof top tent work on the JL with the One-touch Power top?
This will depend on the rack/mounting system you use. You'll likely be unable to open the one-touch power top with a rack on top of the Jeep; most don't give the clearance you need to open it.
