1. The Rear Bumper Conflict
The Sherpa rack mounts to the body tub by wrapping around the rear corners. While it is a "no-drill" system, the mounting brackets often interfere with the rear bumper's closeout panels.
Willys Trim: Since your 2025 Willys 4xe comes with high-clearance fenders and specific bumper styling, you may need to trim or remove the plastic bumper filler panels to allow the rack's support tubes to pass through to the frame mounting points.
Aftermarket Bumpers: If you have already upgraded to a steel rear bumper, the rack may require complete bumper removal during installation to seat the brackets correctly.
2. 4xe-Specific Clearances
While the external roll cage and body dimensions of the 4xe are identical to the standard gas models, the charging port on the front driver-side cowl is the primary area of concern.
Front Light Bar Hoop: The front section of the Sherpa rack mounts to the A-pillar/cowl area. You must ensure the mounting bracket does not obstruct the 4xe charging port door. Some users find that the bracket sits close but allows the door to open fully; however, it can make plugging in slightly more cramped.
Dynamic Weight Capacity: 300 lbs. * This is the maximum weight the rack can safely carry while the vehicle is in motion. It is sufficient for heavy items like kayaks, canoes, and large storage cases.
Static Weight Capacity: 600+ lbs. (Estimated)While Rugged Ridge primarily advertises the 300 lb. dynamic load, the static capacity (when parked) is significantly higher. It is engineered to support the weight of a rooftop tent and occupants, which typically requires a static limit of at least 600 lbs.
