Reviews for Lost Canyon Under Seat Security Box for 18-25 Jeep Wrangler JL Unlimited 4-Door & Gladiator JT
This product is well-made, sturdy, and the keys are of a high-security type I have not seen before. The key on my unit is plain, nickle-plated flat brass, with little dimples in both sides. It seems this lock would be very difficult to pick.
Now for the tip: you like going topless, right? Maybe at the beach? You take you fob with you, but you can't take in the water because it is electronic. So, what, you hide it in your shoe on the sand? Not very secure. You can lock the fob in this box, and take the simple brass key with you! No worries - the box is like a Faraday cage, blocks the RF signal from the fob, so no one can steal your Jeep! I have verified this.
Easy to install. Great place to secure my EDC when I can't take it in certain places.
This lock box fits perfectly under the seat of my Gladiator. It was an easy install and a wonderful solution to keeping my valuables locked up especially with the top and doors are off. The Lost Canyon Under Seat Security Box is awesome. It’s functional, tough, and seamlessly integrates into my Jeep without taking up precious space.
Extra security is always a good idea, somewhere to keep valuables -- especially when I plan on going topless. This installation was a breeze, no drilling involved. I love that it has a rubber mat inside to prevent rattling of the contents inside. Easily fits items like my wallet, cell phone, jewelry, and other items I might want to leave behind when the doors are off, like when I'm at the beach. When the seat is all the way back, you can barely tell it's there!
I installed this in our 2024 Jeel Wrangler Rubicon, which has powered seat and it fits just fine! It is compatible. This unit is great for securing valuables in your Jeep when you have the doors and top off. The install was so easy. Remove the two rear sear bolts, put in the security box, and reinstall the bolts...DONE! There is a nice rubber mat included in the security box to prevent your items from rattling. We all need more storage, especially lockable storage.
Perfect for storing valuables out of sight when you have the doors and top off. Installs under the passenger seat and you won't even know its there unless you bend down to look. Big enough to store wallet, keys, phone, and other valuables. Comes with foam mat as well so you don't hear things rattling inside. Doesn't interfere with rear passenger leg/feet space either. Floormats don't need trimmed either!
I have a 2024 Rubicon JL with manual, heated seats. I had to move some wires out of the way that were hitting when sliding the seat backwards to it's most rearward position. Took a little trial fitting but eventually got it to work correctly. So if you have this similar setup, be prepared. Otherwise it does what it's supposed to. A little small for my liking but it'll work.
Caution for anyone with a 2024 High Altitude 4XE. It does NOT fit. The website description should be changed. I gave it three stars because I like the box, but unfortunately I cannot use it. The video and the pdf instructions say to use a T-50 driver to remove the seat bolts. This is incorrect for my Jeep. I had to use an E-12 Torx bit to remove the bolts. Secondly, once properly mounted, the power seat will no longer go all the way back. I looked under the seat when I was moving it. There is a metal bar that runs across the width of the seat. At about the halfway mark, the bar hits the box and the seat can't move anymore. This makes the front seat legroom too short. I had to return it.
I bought this for a 2023 Gladiator. The instructions call out a T50 Torx socket to remove/re-install the two seat bolts. On my Gladiator, the bolts are different. They have an "E-Torx/External Star Screw" head & therefore special sockets. Those sockets are hard to find! A 3/8" 12-point socket will fit, but it does not fully engage the "lobes" on the Star Headed bolt- which could cause rounding of the bolt head.
Also, the inboard (left, when looking forward) Mounting Bracket-to- Storage Box attachment bolt head interferes with an electrical connector on the bottom of the seat (manual seat). The bolt head catches the connector & pulls on the wiring when the seat is moved forward & backward. I am going to switch to a carriage bolt instead of the hex head to see if that will work.
