Reviews for Lost Canyon Under Seat Security Box for 18-25 Jeep Wrangler JL Unlimited 4-Door & Gladiator JT
I have a 2024 Rubicon JL with manual, heated seats. I had to move some wires out of the way that were hitting when sliding the seat backwards to it's most rearward position. Took a little trial fitting but eventually got it to work correctly. So if you have this similar setup, be prepared. Otherwise it does what it's supposed to. A little small for my liking but it'll work.
So product is great... except I have a Sahara with electric seats and heated and all that fun stuff. With it installed I can no longer put the seat all the way back due to a bracket on the seat is hitting the box. I have made sure the box is as far back as possible. But yeah. It works just hope passengers don't have long legs.
Caution for anyone with a 2024 High Altitude 4XE. It does NOT fit. The website description should be changed. I gave it three stars because I like the box, but unfortunately I cannot use it. The video and the pdf instructions say to use a T-50 driver to remove the seat bolts. This is incorrect for my Jeep. I had to use an E-12 Torx bit to remove the bolts. Secondly, once properly mounted, the power seat will no longer go all the way back. I looked under the seat when I was moving it. There is a metal bar that runs across the width of the seat. At about the halfway mark, the bar hits the box and the seat can't move anymore. This makes the front seat legroom too short. I had to return it.
I bought this for a 2023 Gladiator. The instructions call out a T50 Torx socket to remove/re-install the two seat bolts. On my Gladiator, the bolts are different. They have an "E-Torx/External Star Screw" head & therefore special sockets. Those sockets are hard to find! A 3/8" 12-point socket will fit, but it does not fully engage the "lobes" on the Star Headed bolt- which could cause rounding of the bolt head.
Also, the inboard (left, when looking forward) Mounting Bracket-to- Storage Box attachment bolt head interferes with an electrical connector on the bottom of the seat (manual seat). The bolt head catches the connector & pulls on the wiring when the seat is moved forward & backward. I am going to switch to a carriage bolt instead of the hex head to see if that will work.
Where to start… for the first few weeks I was wondering what parts in my brand new gladiator were rattling apart, till I remembered the new security box install. The rattling is enough for me to remove this thing.
If you’re putting your wallet in it when the doors are off then this might be for you… but if you’re using for anything of value, wait till tuffy comes out with something quality. I wouldn’t pay more than $60 for this thing knowing what I do now.
