Reviews for Quadratec Q9000 Self Recovery Winch in Black
Easy install, works well, looks good.
Easy install. Unit looks of good quality. Hopefully never have to use but just in case, I have one that didn't cost a fortune.
First winch came with the electrical connection bolts bent with cross threaded nuts on them. When I tested the winch after installation there must have been a bad connection inside it that caused it to short out. I called support, and they were awesome. They helped me right away and stood behind their product. The new one came promptly, and works just fine. I would order from Quadratec again.
after a little over a year installed never used when I tried to use it , it did not work the harness to the solid state relay was defective it was inexpensive to replace but Reilly !!!
JUNK !!! Do not buy. I bought mine a few months ago, and when I needed it the winch controller where it plugs in the cable was corroded even though it was parked in the garage . That was not a big deal things could happen. The 3rd time I NEEDED it the cable would come in but not let out. Replaced the solenoid the same thing happened. It likes spending good money after bad save your money and get a brand name winch you will be money ahead.
This product has quite a few design flaws that, it caused my winch to fail within 6 months of putting it on my jeep.
This winch has no seals to protect the motor, or gear set. My jeep was kept outside in rain (never submerged in water) and it suffered from massive corrosion internal to the winch which ultimately caused it to seize. Secondly, the winch utilizes stainless steel fasteners and aluminum casing, because these are opposites on the galvanic scale, they suffer from corrosion and seize together making servicing later a nightmare.
Quadratec is replacing my winch under warranty (which makes me feel better about this issue), and here are the steps I'm going to take to overcome these design issues:
1. Disassemble the winch and at every point moisture can enter, cover it in some kind of sealant like RTV gasket maker.
2. Remove all fasteners and cover them in an antisieze to help resist the galvanic process
