Reviews for Quadratec 6" Pocket Style Fender Flares for 87-95 Jeep Wrangler YJ
Bought these 2 1/2 years ago and they still look great. Easy to install. The front fender extensions are pretty much useless because you can't use the stock mounting hardware and doesn't come with any other hardware except for what comes for the flares but looks great without them. Very happy with them.
Flares are a nice black. Nice and sturdy pieces. Easy install.
Nice
Hardest part of this project was getting the old fenders off! There's a fastener on each side of the OEM front fender that is nearly impossible to get to but it's all worth it in the end. Fenders look great! Really not that difficult to install. The fender extensions that come with don't work with the original extension hardware which according to the instructions you need to use but the fenders look great, maybe even better without them. I will install diamond plate along the bottom to hide the original holes and 25 yrs of discoloration. They look awesome!
Easy to install , looks great
Look good once installed Take extra time to step back and look at location before you start drilling.
It took a friend and I about 2 1/2 hours to install all 4 flares. We had to drill new holes in the fenders to accommodate them but it really improved the overall look!
Pretty nice for the price but watching out my rear flairs were marked wrong. So I have 2 extra holes and forgot the washers that come with them they don’t fit over the screws
I like the look of these flares and yes, they are a stiff black plastic, not like OEM. The finish is textured, like a really heavy orange peel paint finish. To confirm other reviews, the washers do NOT fit the screws. Very odd.
Some tips:
I used a smaller drill bit because not enough screw goes into the sheet metal of the fender. A 3/16" bit made too big a hole and the screws wouldn't bite.
When applying the weather strip, it will go much faster if you put some of it on the fender, then pull off the tape. Put a few more inches on, then just pull the tape. Pull the tape off as you go and the weather strip will go on very easy.
The fenders themselves seem to be good quality. The washers that came with the kit do not fit the screws at all. I had to go to the local hardware store to buy the correct ones. The two rear fenders were labeled incorrectly for which side they go on. They are shaped differently. I caught the difference before installing/drilling anything luckily. I know its a cheaper kit but the basics of washers and labeling incorrectly gives it a 3 star for me. Once I figured out and had everything correct it was simple to install. Requires 2 people to do correctly as well.
