I was told it doesn't connect to the 4 pin harness. Instead it runs along side it. Does this mean your adding a 7 way to the existing 4 pin to use both of them? If so how how does 7 way work fully compared to a 4 pin or does it create a new separate connection all together with the 4 pin. So this way you can use either 4 pin or 7 way connection base on what your using?

Yes, you can use both. When you install the Mopar 82210214AB 7-Way Connector, it does not disable or replace your existing factory 4-pin harness. They become two separate, independent connections at the back of your Jeep, allowing you to choose whichever one fits the trailer you are towing that day.
How the Two Connections Work Together
Because the 7-way kit is a standalone harness, it creates its own "circuit" by plugging into the back of your taillights using T-connectors.
Your 4-Pin: Stays exactly where it is. It will continue to provide basic lighting (running lights, turn signals, and brakes) for small utility trailers.
The New 7-Way: Provides those same lighting signals PLUS three critical extra features that a 4-pin cannot handle:
Electric Brakes: The signal from an in-cab brake controller to the trailer.
12V Auxiliary Power: Constant power to charge a trailer battery or run interior camper lights while driving.
Reverse Lights: A signal to the trailer to turn on backup lights or disengage surge brakes.

I have a 2017 Jeep JKU Sahara with a factory 4 pin connector. Does this new harness connects to it and allows it to become a 7 way. Or does it replace the whole harness. Also is this an easy plug and play for those not handy with wiring.

The Mopar 82210214AB 7-Way Round Trailer Connector does not connect to your existing 4-pin plug; instead, it is a standalone harness that runs alongside your factory wiring to provide the additional circuits needed for a 7-way setup (such as electric brakes and 12V battery power).
Installation Difficulty: Is it "Plug and Play"?
For someone not handy with wiring, this is considered a moderate installation. While the main signal connections are plug-and-play, there are several steps that require more effort than a standard 4-pin kit:
T-Connectors (Easy): You will unplug your factory tail lights and "sandwich" the new Mopar connectors in between. This part is completely plug-and-play.
Power Wire Routing (Intermediate): You must run a long power wire from the rear bumper all the way up the frame rail to the Jeep’s battery. This requires using zip-ties and avoiding hot exhaust components or moving suspension parts.
Firewall Pass-through (Intermediate): To use the "Electric Brake" portion of the 7-way, you have to feed a wire through a rubber grommet in the firewall to connect to an under-dash brake controller (sold separately).

What gauge is the power wire and does it have its own inline fuse?

Yes, Mopar part number 82210214AD does have an inline fuse. While we know it has an inline fuse (5 amp), this doesn't directly tell us the wire gauge. The appropriate wire gauge is chosen by the manufacturer to safely handle the current draw for the intended trailer lighting functions.

If I install this on my 2016 JKU Hard Rock (with factory tow - 4 pin) will I still need a brake controller?

Yes, if you are towing a trailer with electric brakes, you will still need a separate trailer brake controller installed, even if your vehicle has the Mopar wiring harness kit with part number 82210214.

Does this harness require splicing into the brake wire... or anywhere else?

Installation instructions do not indicate a splicing requirement. It is designed to plug into factory equipped harnesses. Thanks for your inquiry.

Does this fit a 4 door

Yes, this kit can be used on two or four door models. Thanks for your inquiry.

Could you clarify how the right turn signal is transmitted in case of connection is supposed only to left taillight and power supply?

The rear lights are linked via a rear jumper wire that connects the sides.

Will this work with progressive brake controllers, or just time delay?

This should work with progressive and time delay as the signal will be supplied by the controller.

What is the blue wire for that comes into the cab? Does it hook to the electric brake controller? Does mopar make an electric brake controller? I assume you have to add one of those if your trailer has electric brakes? Thanks

Yes the blue wire is for a brake controller, but Jeep does not have a unit for the JK models. You can use your favorite brand of controller to operate trailer brakes.

So I want to be sure before I spend this kind of money on a harness. This harness will allow me to hook a trailer brake controller without having to splice into the factory wiring?

Correct.
