Reviews for Safe-T-Cap ART-123 Upper Rear Shock Mount for 87-95 Jeep Wrangler YJ
Like the quality so much decided to replace the other side too.
Their heavy duty products are what keeps me returning
worked out great thanks
These rear shock towers are much stronger than stock and work well. Install was easy, if you know how to weld.
Excellent product. Easy to weld in. Much better than the original.
Fits very well. I had a couple of rust holes about the size of a nickel in the frame where the old mount was. I bough a piece of 3/16 flat plate from Lowes and cut. 2 6 inch pieces, welded them at 90 degrees, then welded the new mount on top. Centered the mounting stud to my mark on the frame where the old one was. I used a Harbor Frieght flux core welder that cost under $100. A stick welder would be better because I had a hard time getting the proper angle on the gun and was only able to weld 3 sides but got good penetration on all the welds. It's holding well under abuse and losing 3/16 of shock travel isn't going to make or break me. I've read on the Jeep Forum that the cost of having a professional do it is in the $1,500 range and after doing it I can see why. The hardest part was grinding off the old welds. I used an air die grinder and a carbide bit. It's a tight fit to get in and watch to make sure you're not grinding into your frame.. Overall I'm happy with the results. The design looks better than the original, doesn't look like it'll hold water as bad as the original.
Fit real nice.
Excellent product constructed better than stock
Does not match the picture. I ordered it because it appears to have a plate across where the top of the frame rail would be. I have a rust hole right between the 2 supports that go across the top of the frame rail, and figured that the plate would cover it. But unfortunately, the part I received did not match the picture, and was not what I has hoped for.
