Reviews for Rampage Products 779401 Rampage Grab Handles for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
good location for a hand grab and fits the hand real well. Easy to install, sturdy as all get out. Holds my 220 lbs easily.
My mother love them they were very easy install, made it much easier for her to get in and out of her jeep.
Easy install and makes it easier to get in for my 5-2 wife.
I have been using mine successfully for three years now, and they have, more or less, worked well. My front handles tend to loosen very slowly over time. About once every six months I'll grab the driver or passenger handle, and the lower bolt will come off throwing me off balance. It only takes about 2 minutes to tighten it back down, but I still wish it was a non-issue.
I thought this was going to be simple.
Major comment: The handle uses tarp style grommets to transfer the load from the handle to the bolt. One washer for each end of the handle is included which is about the same size as the grommet. The instructions do not tell you which side of the grommet gets the washer. Nor do they indicate how to tighten (torque) the bolt. During removal of the bolt, it was obvious that the bolt was structurally torqued when originally installed and should be returned to that state. As a result during installation, the grommet gets crushed between the washer and the frame and ceases to perform its job, leaving the nylon to bear the load against the bolt. This should not be shipped with a washer. It should have a bushing to fit inside the grommet to carry the crushing load of the bolt. I am not sure how long mine will last now that the grommets are trashed.
Minor comment: The instructions are two lines long. A small warning would have been helpful. The bolt is inset into the pillar panel and difficult to grab with your finger after loosening. When removing the bolt, use a stick magnet or a magnetic socket to insure that the bolt does not fall down inside the pillar panel, other wise you will be on the internet trying to figure out how to remove the panels to search for the bolt.
