Hi, I have a Dana 44A differential on my Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7 with Quadra Drive.
I had my rear differential overhauled on September 27, 2018 at a Chrysler service shop. Just 9 months and 9000 miles later the rear differential was failed again after tear down it was determined that the right side carrier bearing failed causing right carrier race to spin and damage the housing, this is the fourth time in 4 years. I was told that lack of proper grounding can cause the bearings to fail prematurely. Is this correct??
We cannot confirm that, but talking it over, theoretically it is possible due to the the nature of electricity and the aluminum housing. With an aluminum housing static can build up and attack metallic parts. Standard axles made of steel will dissipate those small charges over time.

How many setup bearings come in this kit? Carrier bearings AND pinion bearings? So that both can be setup together for tooth pattern checking?
This is the two carrier bearings only. No other bearings are included.

Is this just 2 carrier set-up bearing only? Anything for the pinion?
This is only Two specially machined carrier bearings

What exactly comes in this kit? Is it two carrier bearings and races, and then a pinion bearing and race? The photos and description don't show if this is a complete kit.
This is 2 carrier bearings only
