Reviews for Smittybilt XRC M.O.D. Front Bumper for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
Bumper is great and for someone that is fairly inexperienced with working on vehicles it was very nice easy to install. The only suggestion I have is in the directions maybe mention that the front most bolts do not need washers as there are washers already welded inside the bumper.
Very nice bumper and heavy duty.. very easy install
This bumper is awesome. Solid Steel and very heavy. Fairly easy to install and the look without end caps is lit. I didn't put the extra silver plates on it to keep with my black color scheme.Winch was a little tough to attach, but just takes time because you have to slide your fingers into a tight spot. Get a buddy to help you install... like I said, this is HEAVY
Purchased the XRC MOD & Winch combo and have been very pleased so far with it.
While I have not had a chance to truly test it out on the trail .. It appears to be a quality winch.
Installation took me about 3 hours due to a few complications. I also opted not to use the end caps .. First, the plates that close out the end of the base MOD bumper have screws that we're keeping the bumper from sliding completely up to the frame mounts. Once I figured that out .. I backed out the screws a bit so they would not hit. Second, I had to loosen the winch bolts about 3/4 of the way out as the left side of the winch was also binding on the top of the Jeep mount. This of course made tightening down the winch harder but not impossible. But the rear bolts were. Even mor difficult to tighten down than before it was mounted as the tight space is even tighter with the Jeep frame mount in the way as well.
The positive cable barely made it to the battery with inches to spare, but I took all of these in stride and had it mounted and secured. some of this technical fitment may have been covered in the instructions however, I didn't receive any instructions or the nylon hook strap. All that withstanding, I love this setup. The XRC bumper is heavy duty and a monster. The winch free spooling reels out rather quickly and I really like the feel and strength of the Dyneema rope and although I still wear gloves when handling the line .. It is nice not to have to worry about getting cable fray.
For the price it is a very good setup.
One final Con - the replacement cost for the Dyneema line is 4X that of the steel cable.
Depending on how long this line lasts .. Will really determine if I stick with this winch but so far so good ..
Looks great kind of needs to go on before the bumper does hard to get to if put on after.
It was a great father and son experience installing the bumper. It is fairly easy to do, even if the instructions are terrible. I agree with Mike P.. No one will steal the winch since the back bolts are extremely hard to tighten. The bumper is substantial, beefy, and well made. Loving the look.
Great product very pleased with the quality heavy duty black finish looks great. However a little difilcuilt to bolt the wench in due to tight spaces.
Short ratchet wrench is a must one thing for sure no one can steel your wench it would take a great deal of work to remove it. Over all a Nice rugged look!
Hefty bumper. Wish there were more texture options, but still looks great. I ordered the wider option and was glad to see the plates are there if I decided to remove and make the bumper narrower if I end up with different fenders later on. One issue I had is that the tab for mounting the fog light rusted off. Will need to find a new way to anchor the light back on
Love the look this gave my JK - so awsome! I went with the full look so I could get the fog lights back. A lot of folks say the OEM fog lights on a 2016 JK won't fit, but with a little bit of grinding / sanding of the lip around the light they slide right into the hole. Modified (bent) the brackets that come with the MOD bumper to and mounted the OEM lights right to it. Perfect fit, no gaps, no rattling. I little extra elbow grease and it went a long way. I did have to drill out the holes on the JK frame to level out the new bumper - factory holes did not have the same spacing on both sides. Awesome product though!
Love love the bumper! Took about 6 solid hours to install with a buddy - first bumper install for each of us. Instructions were difficult to understand - YouTube was a life saver. Winch installed afterwards “Smittybuilt X20” - which was a beast to install!! Again you tube since the instructions were lacking. Looks great and wouldn’t trade either, thanks Smittybuilt!!
