Reviews for OMIX 11218.04 Liftgate Hinge Set for 97-06 Jeep Wrangler TJ
Nice Product, no problem replacing factory corroded hinges.
Perfect fit, quick shipping.
Both of my original hinges broke at the same time during a major freeze while shutting the glass. I was standing there with the rear window in my arms, glad I had a long ratchet tie down to wrap around my hard top to keep the glass in while I drove home. I guess the corrosion on the hinges should have warned me. Regardless I ordered these and they have been on for 2 weeks and are working excellent. Upon receiving these, I noticed one hing looked as if the installed bolt was driven in to far and made a protruding shape on the exterior that is visible. I needed these to bad to return but so far there seems to be no defect.
hinge broke , Got cold here , below 0, drivers side broke. I think I'll try stainless steel this time.
These were easy to install, thankfully, since within 3 months I was already replacing one. Good news is that the warranty was easy enough to get the replacement set.
broken within 2 years, needs to be stronger
look good and they are an easy install. Driver side snapped after 6 months and the twist bent the passenger side. Passenger side bolt is not long enough to reach through the wiper motor so you have to create your own system to secure it. Warranty is easy with a no questions asked replacement.
These lasted exactly one year from date of order and the right side cracked off while I was driving. My jeep sits around most of the time, probably had 100 miles on them and yes they were professionally installed. No need to go into details about what happened to my back glass - you know. These are junk and cost me a new rear window. Since OEM are no longer available, I guess try the Kentrol hinges? Maybe better than these. The Dorman ones are garbage too.
Would highly NOT recommend. Both hinges broke in under a year. What’s worse is I RARELY even get into the back of the Jeep (maybe once a month) and yet they still break.
I would give it a zero but that's not an option. The hinge seized and broke in under a year. As an installer I have no issues replacing parts that fail, but this was a piece of junk. Poorly made probably offshore, no quality workmanship. I ordered new ones and had to modify them so the hinge pins would not do same thing. Suggest anyone purchasing these should check that pin has slight bit of room to accept lubricant and the ends are not so tight hinge wont move.
