Reviews for Rock Hard 4X4 RH5010.0 Winch Mounting Plate for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK with Factory Plastic Front Bumper
Took a little push and pull but great product.
I could not be happier with the product and the ease of the installation. In my situation I already had a BlueOx base-plate installed and feared there would be some issue when installing the winch base-plate - NOT. Sure, removing the 8 bolts that hold on the factory bumper on is a pain in the butt, but if you're not willing to do a little work, hire someone to do the install for you. Again, I could not be happier... Now, wish me luck when the winch arrives, fingers crossed it will be as easy as this...
Solid mount.
Inexpensive.
Keeps the winch accessible when you need it by keeping it high out of the mud.
Only 4 stars because the design hampers you ability to use the stock hooks without offering an easy replacement.
Have used it several times no problems and the pain looks new after a year still if one cares about such things!
Overall very nice piece. My only complaint is once mounted you cannot remove the grill. Not a big issue today but one day it will mean lossening the bumper and winch mount to gain clearance. I did not want to replace my bumper so this was the lesser of the two.
Mounting plate is solid, a little work getting it on but not bad, would be nice if so much of the tow hooks weren't used up with plate but still enough room to get a soft shackle on .
The plate fit great and was easy to install, the reason for only a 4 is the bolts were not in the box so had to run to home depot to get some.
It is strong and heavy but I have not winched yet. It seems like it could deflect toward the side with a lateral off center anchor pull point is used rather than winching from a straight forward pull.. Have yet to see how it does. Will upgrade to a bumper down the road.
The mounting plate is adapted for the standard 2016 front bumper, you will need a solid hand wrench, long arm 18 mm to get leverage to remove 4 mounting bolts on each side of the bumper, before installing the mounting plate, I would suggest more than 1 hour if you haven't done it before (2 hours +).
While I agree with the other reviewer , on the length of time being more than "a few minutes" (took me about 3.5hours). I did test fit multiple times, and had to use a tap to clean the threads for the bolts. It did however drop right into place on my 2007 2 door. The only real issue I had was in keeping the tabs aligned with the tow hooks during installation.
I gave it 4 stars, as the instructions are somewhat vague, and I relied on the pictures to insure correct installation.
An ok product but again seriously just buy a bumper , yes it’s an inexpensive solutions , or should I say cheap. You choose.
