Reviews for Crown Automotive 5462424/25K Windshield Hinge Set in Black for 76-95 Jeep CJ-5, CJ-7, CJ-8 Scrambler & Wrangler YJ
Does not fit OEM holes, was not willing to re drill after paint so I cleaned up my old ones, primed and painted them and sent these back. holes are way to far off to re drill without looking bad.
DO NOT BUY these hinges. As others have stated, the holes on the hinge are off a good 1/4" from the holes on the windshield frame and lower location that bolts to the tub. Tried as I might to make them work but there is no way unless you want to strip the threaded holes out on your windshield frame. Quadratec really needs to remove these from the site. Terrible product! Bad reviews here and elsewhere as well.
The side holes on the passenger-side hinge did not line up with the windshield frame. They are off by about a quarter inch. Strangely, the driver side hinge installed fine. Returned them to Quadratech and replaced this set with Kentrol brand hinges which fit perfectly.
I would not buy these. The quality is not good. They look good till you go to bolt them on and they don't fit. I ordered a set, the driver side fit, but the passenger side the holes didn't line up. I called and told Quadratec and they sent another set and they fit worse.
Quadratec was great about this and replaced both sets with a set from a different manufacture..
Do not buy. My third and final product from Crown. The driver side holes almost line up, the passenger side do not. All the bolts are sitting at an angle right now. The door hinge on the passenger side was too small and I drilled it out and pounded the dowel in and now the metal is very thin. The driver side went in without drilling but needed a hammer. I mushroomed my brass punch pounding it in. I bought this one because it had the angled holes and torx bolts like the oem and now I regret it. The windshield hinges are a bigger pain than you would think. Whichever one you buy, go to the hardware store before you start. Get nuts and washers for the lower half bolts, because you're probably going to have to drill out half of them.
