Reviews for Cobra 75 WX ST Compact/Remote Mount CB Radio
This radio is perfect for a Jeep JK
Love the tiny form factor. Lots of ways Ive seen it installed. I actually mounted this in my JK-U glove box cuz I only use this when wheeling. I leave the box door open when in use but with a bungy cord to keep it closed and quiet. I re-purposed the handle mounting bracket to mount a cell phone holder nice and firmly.
To avoid the drama of taking the dash off to get to the lighter power, I ran power from the battery through the driver's side access point where my led light switches also run and then back across to the glove box. The junction box is nestled under the glove box, wrapped in cloth to keep from it from rattling. I drilled a hole in the back of the glove box (left-side) and used the provided grommet to run the spiral cord through.
The radio has an on/off switch, but I still chose to put in a switch also mounted at the back of the glove box just to ensure no residual battery drain (I had an extra switch that came with my LED cube lighting). A more typical lighter tap is switched power...at least on a JK.
I got a cobra magnetic mount which is quite strong and has a quality rubber base to avoid scratches. The antenna cable is nice and long. For now, I have the antenna setting near the drivers side A-pillar...not quite vertical but I could live with it. I left plenty of cable length to reach its final location on my Gobi rack that just arrived--I will rig a small plate with brackets to stick it to and have the option to remount it on the hood any time it might get banged around by forest limbs or parking garages. The antenna is pre-fitted with a rather large connector but Jeep gives us that nice big access point through the bulkhead on the drivers side.
Nicely done Cobra.
Large for the hand, but to be expected due to everything contained within. Works well, just wish my antenna was grounded better!
Easy to install and works great.
Excellent radio, exceeded my expectations. Better sound than many larger radios. Quality built and easily installs in tight quarters. I put connector under driver seat and just lay handset on the console. Sound bounces well off dashboard panel.
best design cb ever all in your hand
I went with an external speaker after reading reviews online. I'm very happy with my purchase
Fantastic little radio, great size for mounting in a Wrangler or similar vehicle where space is at a premium. The mic is well-sized for average hands, and controls are ergonomic -- except for the on/off dial. The resistance built into the dial when turning it off could use some work. From the factory, it's hard enough to be uncomfortable turning it off unless you use two hands -- silly! Otherwise, the only thing I'd like to see Cobra change about this radio is to add P/A speaker jack next to the built-in external speaker jack. Great radio!
Don’t love it. I feel my traditional midland ox was better. This looks good and ticks away nicely - but for me it stops there.
