Reviews for Flowmaster 817755 Outlaw Axle Back for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
Looks and sounds great, took to my normal shop they charged $30.00 to install took them about an hour, had to get new bolts for tail pipe ends but they had them there.
Incredible Sound! Deep....and not that loud as referenced in another review. Looks Great!
Love this purchase.
Fast Shipping. Always Great to Deal with Quadratec.
Took every bit of an 1-1/2 hr to do this project from jacking up Jeep , stands , removal of old muffler and installed.
When I turns the key to start the Jeep..I was very pleased with the sound...I've had and love that flow master sound..it's not a 5.0 V8 but it has a deep sound ...
Easy fit.although my mates at"Pit Stop", in Auckland fitted it for me.Nice to have a hoist. The fit was so easy they didn't want to charge me.Had to force a few dollars on them. The sound is great and the double pipes coming out the back look good. The muffler guys also gave the Flowmaster name a big thumbs up
I received the outlaw this evening. It took 15 minutes in my driveway in the dark to install. WD-40, a prybar & 2 sockets are all you need. I could not be happier, the sound is deep and aggressive. Make the Jeep sound Mean! There were a couple of places where the black finish had flaked off.
Sound is pretty good. Install was simple once you got the old hangers off! What a pain that is. I wish that flowmaster would flair the ends of the hangers so you didn't have to use keepers but non the less it works
First the good part: The sound is awesome! Yes it's loud but that's what Flowmaster is famous for so if you buy a Flowmaster, you obviously want it loud! You won't be disappointed! I was happy that there weren't any chips in the ceramic coating!
Now the frustrating part: You may or may not know that Holly Performance acquired Flowmaster in February 2019 and they still seem to be sorting things out a little bit..They did change the way the exhaust tips attach to a clamp instead of the set screw method people were complaining about in past reviews but, the nuts and bolts they supply for the clamp don't match. The nut is one size too big so when you start hitting the resistance of the clamp tightening, the nut starts slipping threads. It's just a quick run to the hardware store but it's just frustrating that simple mistakes like that are made in what is expected to be a quality part. And speaking of simple mistakes, another complaint I saw in earlier reviews was concern that the left hanger would slip out of the bushing since it didn't have the retaining knob like the factory hangers have. So their method of addressing that concern was to include a "push-on hanger keeper" to keep the hanger from slipping out of the bushing. It's actually one of those friction washers and it would be a simple, workable solution...if they included the right size. The hanger keeper they included was way too big and didn't grip on the hanger at all. Sure, I'll pick one up at the hardware store while I'm there to get the right nuts for the exhaust tip bolts but, again, it's just frustrating that they can't get it right. So I deducted a star.
Over all, I'm very happy with the product. When they get the small issues corrected so the customer doesn't have the frustration of having to run to the hardware store, it will be a solid 5 star performance muffler!
Sounds great easy install somewhat disappointed on the welds on the tips even after reading reviews on all those who broke the taps when installing I told the wife that I needed to be careful and snap it broke so didn’t even bother installing until I beefed up the welds coming from a company like Flowmaster you would think the quality would be in every single detail other than that the sounds was exactly what I was looking for.
The exhaust was easy to install. The old exhaust took a little elbow grease but following tips people have provided made it easier. Looks and sounds incredible. The one draw back is that over time, the high heat caused the black ceramic coating to wear off in the center of the exhaust. After contacting Flowmaster, that said that was normal, but I wasn't happy with the change in the look. They suggested using a can of high heat black spray paint to cover up the area. Not ideal, but I followed their direction and it looks brand new again.
Just slapped the outlaw on last night....taking the old one off was a bit of a pain (1.5 hours)...finally got the hanger rods loose from the grommets using white grease & channel locks to squeeze the stub end of the rod through the grommet. Slapped the new one on in about 15-20 ... I also suggest putting hose clamps at the end of the new hanger rods as they don't have the stubs like the factory one & could slide out with enough force...all in all I loooovvve the sound & feel like there's a little more umph on the throttle..two thumbs up!!! Perfect addition to my Banks Ram Air intake :)
