Reviews for PSC Motorsports Big Bore XD Series Steering Gear for 03-06 Jeep Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited TJ
Great tight steering for my 2006 TJ. Needed to use with 97-2003 Borgeson lower steering shaft.
Quality
Top Quality. Performance is better than new in my opinion . I got cheap at first went for the competitors brand first and it lasted one week before it started leaking and got sloppy. Learn from my expensive mistake get PSC first. It was a bolt in install on my 2003 TJ Rubicon. I used a 2002 lower intermediate steering shaft with high pressure and return line for a 2002 TJ all bolt in. Super tight steering and precision very satisfied. PS The gearbox also came with ram ports which was not ordered.
The OE gear on my 05 TJ went out and I chose this for a replacement. It has performed wonderfully for months and my TJ now steers like a luxury car. Be sure to buy the associated hose kit. Even with the kit, my mechanic said he needed to use some different fittings.
Replaced my failing 2005 LJ OEM box with this. It is longer than a standard gear box, so requires you to shorten your steering shaft. With my body lift, the shaft was then binding on my firewall, so had to install a MORE steering shaft riser. After getting that figured out, it is extremely stiff and has no return to center. After living with it for a few months I Called PSC; they had me adjust the lash to loosen it up, now the steering wanders, and I honestly hate driving my jeep like this. Called Quadratec, they are warrantying it and sending me a new one, which is the only silver lining.
