Reviews for DV8 Offroad TCSTTB-01 TC-1 Tire Carrier for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
All in all, this is a great body mount tire carrier for the price. Installation is relatively easy. Read the instructions first because you will need some special tools (cut off wheel). I had a problem with one of my bushings being too long, so I had to grind it. My passenger side taillight just barely fits now. The adjustable cam lock to move the carrier up and down...no idea how that is even supposed to work. Mine doesn't adjust at all. Pro tip: make sure you level the tire carrier before marking holes. I would absolutely recommend this product.
As others have said about the provided instructions, they are less than fantastic. However, you can watch videos on the installation that are very good. The packaging on the tire carrier was terrible, as shown in the pictures, but a little spray paint, and everything was fine.
Great design, and well built. Instructions could be better but I didn't rely on them very much. Alignment is difficult because tolerance is tight . Overall a good deal.
I removed my old tire carrier and installed this one in about 6 hours. The main reason it took so long is the instructions are useless. They don't give detailed information and the picture are black white (hard to see). I ended up just watching a Youtube video to help with the install. It is possible to install this alone however, there are a couple times where having a extra set of hands will make things a lot easier. This is a very sturdy and well built tire carrier and looks great on my jeep. I wouldn't change anything about the design. Cons- The license plate delete plate is poor. I would recommend getting a MOPAR cover instead. If the instructions were clearer I would have rated this 5 stars! great overall product.
Very well constructed. The install is simple it took me a few hrs to get it installed. I recommend fitting the bushings into the body mount points first and getting them stretched out. They are a super tight fit and almost impossible to install with one person when mounted on the jeep. Get the body mounts installed after you get them to fit free with the tire carrier. I also used some liquid wrench to get them to slide in better. On the driver side make sure the plate is low enough to clear the inside top bolts, if not they will hit and you will need to cut them in half. Everything was top quality parts except the license plate delete cover. I would recommend mopar or another plate. Take all your rear corner lights out also, so you don't crack them trying to mount the passenger side mount. One slip and crack. Over all this was a great choice.
Cool tire carrier, no instructions; parts left over after installation. Doesn't match up well, have to force it closed.
Not a bad choice if your on a budget. The good: Sturdy, looks cool, quality reflects price point. THE BAD: The instructions suck (pictures are black and useless), the powdercoating is crap and was peeling, you need to grind away all the powdercoating from the inside of the hinges and plate to get the bushings to fit, you need to grind down the hinge that you reuse from the jeep because it does not fit, and the pins rattle a lot. Keep a Dremel and paint can handy. Your going to need them.
Just purchased and installed the bumper. Looks great, but the powder coating is very thin and I expect rust soon. Also the reciever bracket on the drivers side was welded together wrong and would not slot together with the carrier properly. I had to use a jacking bolt to spread the ears so that it would go together. Being from Canada it would have been a pain to try to send it back.
It's a great-looking tire carrier I was super excited to get it however after about four months it's rusted to the point that I have to take it off and get it blasted and recoat it. I am extremely unpleased with the quality of the coating on this product
In less than a year, this tire carrier has failed. It holds a 35 inch tire on 20s, the hinges have completely failed. Not only cracking, but completely breaking off. It has damaged my tailgate and my body. This tire care might be fine for people who don’t take their vehicle off road, but it is not up to par for off-road use. I live in Arizona and the terrain is very rocky. I would not recommend this product to anyone other than pavement use only.
