Reviews for Bestop Trektop NX Soft Top for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK Unlimited 4-Door
The best top went on perfectly I'm happy with the performance of it with one exception there is no access to anything in the back if it's taller than the gate unless you unzip it and roll it up my only complaint everything else is great
Features
Seems to fit, good reviews and good price
Just installed it the other day. Instructions aren’t great but it all ended up fine. Top looks great. Real easy to use sunrider. No leaks yet. Definetly a 2.5+ hour job. I recommend this 100% if you’re handy enough for the installation.
I recomend very good
More flappy in the wind than the one I had for my '09 Jeep. This one leaks at the windshield and I will be calling Bestop to fix that. Good thing is, they will make it right.
The product is great! They sent me what looks to be a top that has been returned. A bolt with the special washer. Disappointed to spend $1300 on a top for it to be one that has been returned and not have everything that it is supposed to have.
The reasons I wouldn't give this top 5 starts are: first; when the sunrider is open the back portion of the top doesn't stay tucked under on the highway. So it flaps. I'm afraid it's going to rip. Second, I called before I ordered it to make sure it was completely removable. The directions have you crimp the springs in the back corners making it very difficult to remove all the way. the only reason I wanted a soft top was to be able to fold it all the way back. Otherwise the top fits great when it's on and the fabric is well made.
Install: Easy. I let the fabric sit in the 80 degree sun for a couple hrs. Took me about 3.5 hrs of work time. The first time getting the zippers to catch is very hard. I found using a step ladder to get better leverage helped a lot. The first time closing the sunrider was also difficult. Since then the fabric has relaxed and is much easier to get everything buttoned up.
The Good: This top is great for opening and closing the sunrider whenever you feel like it (takes less than 10 seconds) from the front seat. Removing and reinstalling the back windows is an easy one person job and takes 3-5 minutes for each process. Obviously road noise is noticeably louder but not too loud to hear the radio or have a conversation.
The Bad: I bought this top during the Bestop spring rebate program and never received my rebate, emailed Bestop and got the runaround. The "glide" feature comes loose at the top of the side windows when you tighten the side/back window zipper. There is a gap at the end of the rain gutter - during most rain storms and car washes everything is fine but during a strong downpour it will leak bad. (see pictures)
I will definitely be looking to upgrade to something better.
Coming from a hard top, this soft top is ridiculously loud on the highway. I purposely drive a different vehicle if I know I will be going in excess of 60mph for an extended time. It also flaps insanely loud with the windows cracked open. I had to shove a towel between the sound bar and the top, and put a ton of extra foam padding between the top and any metal it touches to help quiet down the flapping, including flapping on the rear bow it comes with. On top of that, I’m getting a leak from the rear passenger door area that soaks the cargo compartment and the passenger floor. It does however look nice and cool, and to open the front is super easy. All in all, for the price I couldn’t be more angry at wasting my money on this. If it wasn’t too late I would return it. I wish I would’ve just got a sunrider for the hardtop and go topless when the weather is nice. There is nothing easy about taking out and putting in the rear and side windows. And the fact that it is such a hassle to undo the rear window to get to the cargo space is ridiculous. Cost is way too much for what you get. I say stay away from this if you have a hard top, or if you plan on driving your Jeep on the highway, or if your Jeep will ever be in the rain. Also, the bestop retractable sun shade does Not work with this top. Found out the hard way since quadratecs website was wrong.
