Reviews for Rugged Ridge Heated Ballistic Front Seat Covers 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
Feeling Hot Hot Hot!!! Just installed these on my 2017 JKU and they are great. The temperature is much warmer than your typical new car, and the heat goes up to your shoulders and all the way down to the end of the seat bottom. The fit and finish is decent. The only design flaw is the location of the switch to turn the heat on and off. They are located on the interior of the bottom seat cushion against the center console. They don’t sit flat either which is very odd. The switches are however relocatable if you are up to drilling holes in your vehicle. Don’t forget they come with a 5 year warranty too. Cheers!
The seat covers are great. My wife loves them in her 14 JK. The instructions are pretty good and the wiring harness is nicely made with plenty of length. Took about 30-45 mins to install. I did have one issue-- The instruction say to pull the ignition fuse and tap the spot with the provided fuse setup. I was under the impression that the heater would de energize when the ignition was turn off and vise verse, like a normal ignition circuit. Not this jeep. Anyway I rescued my wife from work after she left her nice heated seat on all day and killed the battery. When we got home I just tapped into the front heated seat fuse, which is empty on a JK without heated seats. Hope this makes sense. Do yourself a favor and test the fuse spot you chose with the key on and off to ensure 12 VDC is not constant, just incase you leave the seats heater on. Other than that they are a great gift.
The covers look very durable compared to the other ones I had. Easy to install. One thing i like is the length of the wire on the switch. You can mount it almost anywhere. I chose to mount it on the center console.
Installation is not as simple as the ad makes it appear and does require some experience working on car wiring. In particular, in my 2011 Jeep Wrangler, the red power wire tip was too big to go through the body filler foam hole. I had to cut the wire, run it back through from the engine compartment to the driver's side using lockwire, and then splice the wires together again using a connector. Not too difficult but requires some experience working on wiring. Also, the M9 fuse cavity is open and available (since there are no heated seats) for use instead of replacing the IGN fuse. Much easier to do and thus automatically there is no power to the seats when the ignition is off.
Work well once you get them in. But that’s the issue. They’re supposed to come with plugs to plug the seats into the harness, but they had bare wires in the seats not plugs. The hot wire to the battery is too short, I had to splice an extension in there and cut off the plugs to splice in the seats. The fact that the wire is too short is the opposite in the cabin. Once the ground is connected to the recommended location There’s about 3 ft of extra wire I had to stuff under the carpet. The recommended fuse location isn’t ignition controlled so you have to be mindful to not leave them in. The directions are awful. Unless you have experience wiring do not try to put these in yourself. I would return this if it wasn’t so hard to get it in and remove. 2 stars because it does work well once it’s in
Bought the front and back seat covers 2 years ago. The material is very durable and holds up to daily usage with 2 dogs and teenagers. The heated front seats get nice and hot and worked great the first 2 years. The drivers seat is now burning out right leg and is not usable. I had to hunt down how to submit a claim under the 5 year warranty l, which I submitted to OMIX-ADA over a month ago with no response. I submitted a follow up email 2 weeks ago, which I received a email stating it was closed and added to my prior request. Still no response. At this point, I do not know what else to do as there is no phone number I can find to call. So the expensive seat cover for driver is a waste. I could switch seats in front, but should not have to. Very upset with buying what I thought was a great product
