Reviews for Bestop 2-Piece Doors for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
I had similar doors on my older TJ, so I pretty much knew what I'd get for my JK. While Bestop makes some good stuff, this is still an aftermarket fabric door on a metal frame. It's going to be loud on the highway. It's going to let in some rain. My rating is based on none of that, because that should be expected. If you want a quiet, perfectly fitting door, keep the full steel doors on or buy a Camry. That said, I had a LOT more trouble fitting the top half to to bottom half than I should have. The pins on the uppers just do not fit into the lowers with significant work. None of the three sockets on my left side door were on straight. The right side were all straight, but were as much as a quarter inch out of alignment. Once I got them on, everything was so tight that it is difficult to separate the uppers and lowers. You should be able to just pull the tops off, and not have to force them I don't know if Bestop had some quality issues recently or what. I'm keeping them because I only got them to throw on if I'm out with the doors off and it rains. I'm not mad Bestop, I'm disappointed, and I hope you read that in your grandmother's voice.
These doors look great but they do not function well. Very poor fitment and getting them adjusted just so they latch took hours. They are poorly designed and do not fit the jku well. They are great to throw on but every time I remove them and put them back on I must adjust them again. The flap in the wind at high speeds and there is gaps at the bottom. So in the rain you will get wet. They are fun to just throw on and go door less when you want. I expected more from bestop and I have to say I was disappointed in these.
I really like the look of these doors but the quality was not where I had hoped. They are great for what they are. The fitment is not great on the jku. They are nice to quickly take off and toss in the back. Unfortunately, The door have large gaps at the bottom and they do not line up well so they leak in the rain. They also flap a lot at higher speeds. The latches are not the best and are difficult to get latched at times but they do stay latched once closed. I’ve purchased a few bestop products in the past and I have to say I was disappointed in the quality and fitment of these. Install took me several hours due to the adjustments that have to be done to get them to latch. They what they are.
I bought these doors for my 2015 two door sport and unfortunately had to return them.
I read the reviews and saw that people had issues with them leaking but thought it couldn’t be THAT bad so I gave them a shot. Once I put them on my Jeep I realized there were some pretty sizable gaps on the the tops and bottoms so I called customer service and they told me to “just bend them.”
I got them to fit a little better by adjusting them and just waited for rain to see how they’d hold up. WOW. These doors basically create a funnel that just lets rain pour inside and soaks the instrument cluster, the corner speaker, and the floor. I had to pull the plugs a couple different times just to let the floor mats dry out.
The reason for the 2 stars is that these doors are pretty nice and as long as you DONT USE THEM IN THE RAIN, you won’t be disappointed. But for people looking to use these as a summer replacement for factory hard doors... look elsewhere. You’ll end up returning these after taking a bath in your Jeep.
Ridiculously ill-fitting for the price. I wasn't expecting perfection by any means but I was expecting better than what I got. Passenger side is ok but the driver side literally leaves a gap between the upper and the right corner of the door that, as yet, no amount of bending, pulling, or adjusting can fix. I usually run doorless in the summer and got these to keep out critters overnight and to keep some rain out when the clouds open up. Needless to say, if I have advance warning of rains coming through, the hard doors are going back on. Kind of defeats the purpose if you ask me. I'm keeping 'em and I'll keep working with them, but these are $500 doors at best - and that's just because of the fabric. Pretty disappointing.
If you buy these you have to go into it knowing you will get wet. The first step to install these is remove your Jeep's carpet and pull all the drain plugs because these doors leak severely. They sure are fun in the sunshine, but I think they are way too expensive for all the aggravation they cause.
DO. NOT BUY - No matter how much adjusting or bending of the door they will never fit. The door latching mechanism is awful. Takes 2 hands and slamming the door to get it to close. Problem is the latch doesn’t always open all the way so when you slam the door to shut it, since the latch isn’t open the door will not close. You then have to fiddle with the latch and slam it again to close. A few times I gave up and just took the door off and threw in the back of the Jeep. Ultimately one of the door locks broke and popped out. Last thing, once the door is closed the top flaps at highway speeds and rain just pours in. I bought these to make it easier to take the doors off but I’d rather deal with the factory doors.

Would give zero stars if I could. After hours of trying to make them fit they just don’t work! When you adjust to to the handle, the door doesn’t fit it the frame. To the point where I can stick my hand through the gap at the top of the frame. When you adjust to the frame, the handle doesn’t latch closed. Terrible product. Don’t waste money or time on them.
I have to agree with Eric O. For 637.00 for the twill doors, and matching twill windows I expected a lot more. No amount of adjusting of the paddles or the lower hinge will close the 1/2 gap where the door curves that allows water to gush in. The pins and holes for the windows are so far out of alignment, I had to completely bend the middle pin out of the way to get the upper to seat. Now it’s a great place to impale yourself.
