Reviews for Rampage Products 99306 Rock Rage Front Bumper for 07-23 Jeep Wrangler JL, JK & Gladiator JT
This is my second Rampage Bumper. An earlier review mentioned that the bumper didn't fit, true. Mine was 4mm short in total width. I took the side brackets off, and used a dremmel grinder to adjust the primary bracket. Then reinstalled the side adjustable brackets back in place. A little extra work, but only about 30min. I was a little pissed that the fog lights didn't fit too, but rather than fabricate something i bought a pair of 2018 OEM led fog lights. $50 on Amazon. The JL rackets are different. I sold my old bumper on Ebay and it paid for the whole project.... well the bumper anyway. I also installed KCs and a Warn Winch. I was super happy with my last Rampage, and that took a ton of fabrication to fit it to a CJ when it was made for a JK. But in the end it looked great and functioned even better. This project is almost done, just have the Warn to put on in a day or so. And it looks great and is stable. The new bumper matches up nicely to the grill. As for a skid plate... ill use a red laser (picture mounting laser) to mark the OEM skid plate, the cut that with a grinder (straight lines), then weld a sacrificial lip to the old skid plate, and mark some new holes. The drill, tap, paint, and attach. Should be fairly simple. So simple its suprising that Rampage doesn't have one already. I'd make it for everybody but i suspect it will be about 5hrs work, and that would be pricy if you wanted to buy it from me. But try it, see if it works for you.
Great looking bumper, easy to install, no directions necessary. Cant ask for an easier install then this
I'm disappointed that the steel is only 5/32" (.156") thick and not the 3/16" (.187") as advertised. The brush guard tube was even thinner so I fabricated some 1.75" diameter supports to beef it up. We'll see how it holds up on the trail. I got mine at a significant discount so the price made it worth it I suppose.
Solid bumper that checks most of the boxes. I installed this on my 2020 JT Gladiator Sport S. The description says its compatible with JK and JL also note that that I read that some JL customers had issue with the fog light mounts not being correct. I expected this to be the case for me and it took some minor trimming and drilling of the fogs to get them to mount up. The bumper is sturdy with a nice finish and weighing around 75lbs is heavy enough with out being overly heavy. There was a small bend it the fairlead moutnt area but straitened out when my fairlead was installed this was a minor issue. Jeep makes it easy to replace the bumper and Quadratec does well with putting the how to videos out there. Really easy project. Nice bumper that doesn't break the bank.
I love the bumper, the quality, the shipping time, the look and functionality, the price. Reason I said 4 star and not 5 was install. I had to buy new washers as the ones it came with were too wide to attach the stock fog lights. Plus the instructions need to be a color image, even online at the manufacturers site the images were black and white and useless. I have worked on a lot of jeeps in the past and found my way through it, but did it on my own and without the instructions. Other draw back was on my 2020 model, the bolts that mount to the frame were slight off in the layout, so I had to use a block of wood and hammer a sledge against it to get the bolts to go into the frame mounting spots. Which is fine, just wasn't a super easy install. I attached pictures as well. :p
Great quality bumper for the price. It’s steel, so very strong and sturdy. Exactly what I was looking for. Only gave it 4 Stars vs 5 because of two minor things. First was the little bit of rust on the bottom part of the bumper. Which I had painted over. And the second thing was the fog light extension that doesn’t come with the bumper. But I had it installed at an auto body shop, so they slightly bumped up the per hour charge. But overall very pleased so far with the bumper. Definitely an upgrade. And I got d-rings. That’s the nice thing about this bumper. You have options on how you want to customize it. You can put a light bar on, a winch, or d-rings like I did.
It is a good looking bumper for the price. I wish there was b more or better instruction to install the fog lights as it took me 2 hours to to put them in place. I had to drill new holes in the stock light brackets. One of the screw to install the fog light snapped in half while installing. Bumper wasn't as easy as I thought to fit in the 6 holes on jeep. It was my first time installing a aftermarket bumper and took me 4 hours. I am happy with my purchase.
Good solid bumper, installation was easy. I would have given it 5 stars but factory fog light brackets from a 2019 JL are not a direct fit without modifying them. One of the reasons I Picked this bumper was because it said the factory lights would work. Not a hard modification but not what I expected.
excellent quality. instructions could have been graphically clearer, but it all worked out in the end. One person install time = 3 hours. very happy with result.
Looks awesome on my 2017 Wrangler..However it arrived with a dent in the bull bar
